{"id":107379,"date":"2024-09-27T04:53:57","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T21:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=107379"},"modified":"2024-09-27T04:53:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T21:53:57","slug":"rudy-giuliani-disbarred-in-dc-after-pushing-trumps-false-2020-election-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=107379","title":{"rendered":"Rudy Giuliani disbarred in DC after pushing Trump&#8217;s false 2020 election claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Former New York City Mayor <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/rudolph-giuliani\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a><\/span> was disbarred in Washington on Thursday, months after he lost his law license in New York for pursuing false claims that then-President <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a><\/span> made about <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-michael-pence-electoral-college-elections-health-2d9bd47a8bd3561682ac46c6b3873a10\">his 2020 presidential election loss<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dccourts.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-09\/In%20re%20Giuliani%20%2021-BG-0423.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The brief ruling<\/a><\/span> from Washington D.C.&#8217;s appeals court said Giuliani did not respond to an order to explain why he should not be disbarred in Washington after he was in New York last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Ted Goodman, a spokesperson for Giuliani, called the decision \u201can absolute travesty and a total miscarriage of justice.\u201d Giuliani has argued that he believed the claims he was making on behalf of the Trump campaign were true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the legal community who want to protect the integrity of our justice system should immediately speak out against this partisan, politically motivated decision,\u201d Goodman said in a text message. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the latest blow to the man once lauded as \u201cAmerica\u2019s mayor.\u201d His advocacy of Trump\u2019s false election claims has also <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-giuliani-georgia-election-indictment-fulton-county-203b1e69cbff227a0bf8cc59a6bb645f\">led to criminal charges<\/a><\/span>. He\u2019s also facing financial ruin after a jury last year awarded <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/rudy-giuliani-georgia-election-workers-defamation-case-cde7186493b3a1bd9ab89bc65f0f5b06\">$148 million in damages<\/a><\/span> to two former Georgia election workers who sued him for defamation over lies he spread about them in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Giuliani was <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/fraud-claims-aimed-trump-base-loyal-e1c3c5147d11a033fb43ebe66a29f7e8\">one of the most vocal defenders of Trump<\/a><\/span> in 2020, pushing unsubstantiated claims of large-scale voter fraud in the election the Republican lost to President <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/joe-biden\">Joe Biden<\/a><\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>Giuliani previously had his law license suspended in Washington. A review panel last year recommended that he be disbarred over claims in a <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-campaign-lawsuit-pennsylvania-57eefd35a6946eb977eb0c1d22b35d48\">Pennsylvania lawsuit<\/a><\/span> seeking to overturn Trump\u2019s loss there. <\/p>\n<p>Giuliani \u201cclaimed massive election fraud but had no evidence,\u201d the panel wrote. <\/p>\n<p>The former Georgia election workers \u2014 Wandrea \u201cShaye\u201d Moss and her mother, <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/giuliani-bankruptcy-election-ruby-freeman-wandrea-moss-e31c0f37bc68bd0134ee3b5c1d9efbbb\">Ruby Freeman<\/a><\/span>, asked a court last month to force Giuliani to turn over his New York apartment, any remaining cash and some of his prized New York Yankees memorabilia, including three World Series rings and a signed shirt of player <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ap.org\/editorial-photos-videos\/detail?itemid=b76395dde433497aa25b0f8cff2e943a&amp;mediatype=photo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe DiMaggio<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman and Moss also staked a claim to the estimated $2 million Giuliani previously said Donald Trump\u2019s 2020 presidential campaign owes him. They also sought to take control of another Giuliani property \u2014 his Palm Beach, Florida condominium \u2014 through another legal mechanism known as receivership.<\/p>\n<p>Giuliani filed for bankruptcy shortly after the defamation verdict in December. But a judge in July <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/giuliani-bankruptcy-freeman-moss-2020-election-3cf8d70d1dc2608705c9f938bbb8941d\">threw out his case<\/a><\/span>, citing failures to comply with court orders, failure to disclose sources of income and his apparent unwillingness to hire an accountant to go over his books.<\/p>\n<p>Giuliani <span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/arizona-fake-electors-charges-2020-presidential-election-4987d0774412d95a3dac007e81d5c157\">has pleaded not guilty<\/a><\/span> to nine felony charges in the Arizona case alleging he spread false claims of election fraud there after the 2020 election.
