{"id":107387,"date":"2024-09-27T05:49:50","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T22:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=107387"},"modified":"2024-09-27T05:49:50","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T22:49:50","slug":"comet-a3-on-81000-year-trip-to-earth-is-here-how-to-see-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=107387","title":{"rendered":"Comet A3 on 81,000-year trip to Earth is here: How to see it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>And you thought <em>your<\/em> commute was long.<\/p>\n<p>A comet that has been on an 81,000-year <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/23\/science\/asteroid-debris-from-nasa-crash-could-bring-a-beautiful-luminous-light-show-over-earth\/\">journey to fly by Earth<\/a> is finally arriving \u2014 and should be visible in our skies in the upcoming days, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksnt.com\/news\/kansas\/comet-on-81000-year-trip-becomes-a-new-light-in-the-night-sky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to KSNT<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The space rock \u2014 named Comet C\/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-Atlas, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/31\/astrology\/astronomical-events-to-watch-out-for-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">or just A3 for short<\/a> \u2014 was only discovered last year and is billed as what could be the \u201ccomet of the decade\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seti.org\/will-comet-c2023-a3-tsuchinshan-atlas-be-comet-decade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence<\/a>, aka the SETI Institute. <\/p>\n<p>Putting it in perspective, this once-in-a-lifetime space rock is about 1,000 times rarer than seeing Halley\u2019s comet, which reaches our planet about once every 72 to 80 years.<\/p>\n<p>While there was worry that A3 had been unexpectedly dimming en route to Earth \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/comet-visible-naked-eye-nasa-passing-earth-1945365\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earlier reports included fear of it disintegrating<\/a> \u2014 \u201cComet A3 now seems to be regaining its brightness\u201d and is setting up a vibrant show to behold, according to SETI.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" data-modal-image=\"33432087\"><br \/>\n\t<svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"icon-plus\" fill=\"#fff\" viewbox=\"0 0 1033 1000\" width=\"1em\" height=\"1em\"><path d=\"M380 364V0h273v355h380v290H653v355H380V645H0V355h380v9z\"\/><\/svg><br \/>\n<\/button><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.0338983050847;display:block\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"33432087\" width=\"610\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/GYFnF0oWMAAgn9l.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"After earlier concerns of dimming and darkness, comet A3 is regaining brightness. The comet tail is still too dim to see with your eyes, but it is heading towards the sun and growing brighter every day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This comet\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wsrevVpjDv\">pic.twitter.com\/wsrevVpjDv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Don Pettit (@astro_Pettit) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/astro_Pettit\/status\/1837863486015131799?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 22, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to see Comet A3<\/h2>\n<p>There will be two viewing windows for the comet over the coming weeks for the northern hemisphere \u2014 the first being early morning on Friday, Sept. 27, when A3 is closest to the sun. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jamiecartereurope\/2024\/09\/26\/comet-tracker-for-friday-exactly-where-and-when-to-see-comet-a3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes reports<\/a> that on Friday A3 will have an expected solar magnitude of 4.5 \u2014 a smidge less than a fifth of the sun\u2019s brightness.<\/p>\n<p>The only way to see it, though, is by getting up early \u2014 approximately 1\u00bd hours before your local sunrise. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Victor Rivera in Isabela, Puerto Rico, captured this time lapse of Comet A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS this morning, September 25, 2024.
