officials at the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSGSP\/status\/1839348419032408339\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post on X<\/a> on Thursday. &#8220;Record flooding is forecasted and has been compared to the floods of 1916 in the Asheville area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Landslides capable of washing out bridges and roads are possible during this flooding event, NWS said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;We plead with everyone that you take every single weather warning very seriously through the entirety of this event as impacts will be life-threatening and make sure to have multiple ways to receive the alerts,&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/product.php?site=gsp&amp;issuedby=GSP&amp;product=PNS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> NWS said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Photos and videos from the area on Thursday afternoon show rivers rushing and flooded streets.
