Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/YM%3DF\" data-ylk=\"slk:YM=F;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">YM=F<\/a>) and those on the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NQ%3DF\" data-ylk=\"slk:NQ=F;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">NQ=F<\/a>) were also up around 0.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/feds-preferred-inflation-gauge-shows-prices-increased-less-than-wall-street-expected-in-august-123312217.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:August reading of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">August reading of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index<\/a>, the inflation metric favored by the Fed, showed continued cooling in price pressures. The &#8220;core&#8221; PCE index, which is most closely watched by the Fed, rose 0.1% month over month, lower than Wall Street forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>The PCE reading appeared to goose up bets on another jumbo-sized rate cut from the Fed next month. August<\/h2>\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p>The latest reading of the Fed&#8217;s preferred inflation gauge showed prices increased at a slower pace than expected on a monthly basis in August.<\/p>\n<p>The core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, which strips out the cost of food and energy and is closely watched by the Federal Reserve, rose 0.1 % from the prior month during August, below Wall Street&#8217;s expectations for 0.2% and the 0.2% reading seen in July.<\/p>\n<p>Over the prior year, prices rose 2.7% in August, matching Wall Street&#8217;s expectations and coming in higher
