Kennedy Jr.&#8217;s attempt to appear on New York\u2019s general election ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Kennedy, who has\u00a0dropped his own presidential campaign and\u00a0endorsed Republican nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>, is fighting to appear on ballots in certain states over Democratic opposition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The court rejected the request in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/orders\/courtorders\/092724zr_i425.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a brief order<\/a>, with no dissents noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Democrats have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/third-party-candidates-gotten-ballot-key-swing-states-rcna170455\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the past<\/a>\u00a0lost elections because of a robust third-party vote. New York,\u00a0unlike some other states where Kennedy is on the ballot, is not a swing state but Trump has repeatedly said he wants to win his home state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Earlier this year a Kennedy aide was fired after a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/rfk-jr-campaign-fires-new-york-staffer-said-defeating-biden-was-no-1-p-rcna147341\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video surfaced<\/a>\u00a0saying that the campaign\u2019s top priority was to prevent then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden from winning the election by potentially winning states like New York.\u00a0The campaign denied that was a part of its strategy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Kennedy\u2019s lawyers said a state court was wrong in concluding that he could not appear on the ballot because of a dispute over his place of residence.
