But it\u2019s never too early to start looking ahead to the next update. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2024-09-22\/apple-iphone-16-pro-max-review-new-model-reflects-slowing-pace-of-innovation-m1dkn8jv\">per Mark Gurman<\/a>, it\u2019s also possible the company is targeting an even earlier release in mid-October.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, iOS 18.1 appears set for a mid-to-late October launch.<\/p>\n<p>And that gives us a great idea of when to expect the first iOS 18.2 beta.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ios-18-2-beta-release-date\">iOS 18.2 beta release date<\/h2>\n<p>Apple follows a standard pattern with the vast majority of its big software releases.<\/p>\n<p>It ships an update to the public, then very shortly afterward ships the next software version to beta testers.<\/p>\n<p>Here are examples from the past few years:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table class=\"has-fixed-layout\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td\/>\n<td><strong>iOS .1 launch<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>iOS .2 beta<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>iOS 17<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>October 25<\/td>\n<td>October 26<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>iOS 16<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>October 24<\/td>\n<td>October 27<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>iOS 15<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>October 25<\/td>\n<td>October 27<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Expect Apple to follow this same pattern again with iOS 18.<\/p>\n<p>That means iOS 18.2 beta 1 should arrive within a few days of 18.1\u2019s public release.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the <strong><em>week of October 14<\/em><\/strong> is the earliest to expect iOS 18.2\u2019s beta.
