I got a Kia, I got the 2024 Kia Telluride.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Desmarais admits that she went for the purchase because she liked the way it looked, and she knew friends who owned the model. However, things quickly went downhill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had the car maybe two months,\u201d she explains. \u201cMonth one, the passenger door handle falls off\u2026sorry, it doesn\u2019t fall off. It was hanging by a wire.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Desmarais says she chalked up the issue as a \u201crandom defect\u201d and fixed it quickly, but more problems soon emerged.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cA week later, I\u2019m driving, my entire dash lights up. The speedometer stops working\u2026 the lights on my shift don\u2019t work,\u201d she states. \u201cSo I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m in park or drive\u2026 I lose power steering. The car becomes very heavy and then it\u2019ll fix itself\u2014sometimes after five minutes, sometimes after two hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frustrated, she made an appointment to have it fixed but had to postpone. The next morning, while driving to a prenatal appointment, the situation worsened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy car just stops,\u201d she recalls. \u201cIt\u2019s still on, but again the dash lights up, and now my car is locked in drive, but it\u2019s actually in park. So I can\u2019t go anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forced to put on her hazards and direct traffic around her during rush hour, she describes how she had to cancel her prenatal appointment and pay $140 for a tow to the dealership\u2014which was only five minutes away.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-her-kia-telluride-is-under-recall\"><strong>Her Kia Telluride is under recall<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Desmarais also shares another alarming issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was getting this car, everyone [was] telling me, \u2018Be careful, the driver seats are catching on fire,\u2019\u201d she says. \u201c400,000 Tellurides were being recalled because the seats were catching on fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She asked the dealership if her car was part of the recall and was allegedly told, \u201cNo, ma\u2019am\u2026 We\u2019re legally not allowed to give you a car that is part of the recall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But only a month after purchasing the car, she received a recall notice in the mail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour car is part of a recall\u2026 please bring it in so we can fix it and you hopefully won\u2019t die,\u201d she says, frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Desmarais is now asking for advice from car experts. \u201cWhat are my options here?\u201d she asks. \u201cSure, it\u2019s under warranty\u2026 but I don\u2019t want a car that you sold me that was broken\u2026 I don\u2019t want your good-as-new car. I want a different car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even more frustratingly, Desmarais says that the loaner car provided by the dealership while they figure out the issue is the same Nissan Rogue she traded in for the Kia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you believe I\u2019m back in my car?\u201d she exclaims, sharing how she never had issues with the Rogue during the eight years she owned it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I didn\u2019t need something bigger with a second baby on the way, I\u2019d say just keep that car, give me the difference of the money back, and give me my car back,\u201d Desmarais concludes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-these-issues-common-with-kia-tellurides\"><strong>Are these issues common with Kia Tellurides?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to <em>Kelly Blue Book<\/em>, there are currently three active safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbb.com\/kia\/telluride\/2024\/recall\/?vehicleid=467167\">recalls <\/a>for the 2024 Kia Telluride.<\/p>\n<p>One recall involves the risk of the vehicle rolling away while in park, another concerns a loss of drive power that increases the risk of a crash or fire, and the third, which Desmarais mentioned, involves seats that could catch on fire.<\/p>\n<p>While the 2024 Telluride has received positive reviews for its design and features, these recalls and mechanical issues have raised concerns about the model\u2019s reliability\u200b. I did it for my Kia sportage because it died a bunch. I hope you get something safer!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo words.
