Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., says possible port strikes across America could really &#8216;exacerbate&#8217; supply chain problems on &#8216;The Evening Edit.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As thousands of dockworkers are preparing to strike should a deal not be reached by the end of Monday, one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/business-leaders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">business leader<\/a> is questioning the union\u2019s demand for a total ban on automation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/category\/unions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Longshoremen&#8217;s Association (ILA)<\/a> on Sunday said its 85,000 members, along with &#8220;tens of thousands of dockworkers and maritime workers around the world,&#8221; will hit the picket lines Tuesday &#8220;and strike at all Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports from Maine to Texas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The union is demanding higher wages and a total ban on the automation at ports regarding cranes, gates and moving containers in the loading and unloading of freight.<\/p>\n<p>Benchmark Capital&#8217;s\u00a0Bill Gurley reacted on social media to the union\u2019s demands, writing that the federal government should step in if the union seeks a total ban on automation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/port-employers-meet-biden-admin-potential-strike-looms-next-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PORT EMPLOYERS MEET WITH BIDEN ADMINISTRATION AS POTENTIAL STRIKE LOOMS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Outlawing the effective use of technology will unquestionably doom our nation,&#8221;
