However, this marked a fifth straight month of contraction for the manufacturing sector in China.<\/p>\n<p>The Caixin PMI survey, which is a private survey compiled by S&amp;P Global, reported that the manufacturing PMI fell to 49.3 from 50.4 in September, lower than the 50.5 expected from the Reuters poll.<\/p>\n<p>The Caixin survey also marked the fastest decline in the sector in 14 months.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\">Hang Seng index<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> rose 1.29% following the release.<\/p>\n<p>Separately in Japan, the Nikkei&#8217;s decline was led by losses in real estate stocks, while the largest loser on the index was department store holding company <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/3099.T-JP\/\">Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span>, down 11%.
