granny\u2019s got the goods.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amy Hardison, 64, a grandmother of 11, is putting anti-aging enthusiasts like Bryan Johnson to shame, recently besting the tech tycoon in a biometric \u201cGame of Thrones.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just cherish the experience of life, and I cherish the perspective that comes from being older,\u201d Hardison, of Mesa, Arizona, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/well\/article\/women-slow-aging-routine-rejuvenation-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently told Fortune<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Hardison, shown with her husband Steve, says she was stunned to find that her biological clock was ticking slower than the months on a calendar.  <span class=\"credit\">Facebook \/ Steve Hardison<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She\u2019s a front-runner<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rejuvenationolympics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> in the Rejuvenation Olympics<\/a>, an online competition by <a href=\"https:\/\/novoslabs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Novos<\/a> that encourages its over 4,000 participants \u2014 including Johnson, 47, and longevity expert Peter Diamandis, 63 \u2014 to reverse their biological ages through healthy lifestyle changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe sometimes forget the richness that comes from a life well-lived,\u201d said Hardison, a married mom of four.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>And according to the scoreboards, her cup runneth over: the boomer ranked fifth in the daily challenge for most of the last year. <\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s even briefly held the No. 4 spot on the longevity list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Johnson, 47, who annually <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/25\/bryan-johnson-45-spends-2m-to-get-18-year-old-body\/\">spends a reported $2 million <\/a>to retain his youth and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/22\/anti-aging-fanatic-who-spends-2m-a-year-to-retain-youth-uses-teen-son-as-blood-boy\/\">undergoes\u00a0blood transfusions <\/a>with his teen son, has ranked at No. 1 and has fallen as low as sixth place in the competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Johnson adopted extreme and found in each contestant\u2019s bloodwork, which is routinely tested by TruDiagnostics \u2014 epigenetic specialists who analyze a person\u2019s DNA to understand their biological aging and disease risks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiological age measures your body\u2019s cellular and molecular age, which can differ from your actual age,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trudiagnostic.com\/rejuvenation-olympics#:~:text=Retest%20regularly%20to%20monitor%20progress,your%20ranking%20on%20the%20leaderboard.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">per the researchers<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cIt can change due to lifestyle choices, health factors and other influences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeasuring biological age through methylation is highly accurate and predictive of future health, disease risk and even lifespan.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Mogul Johnson has been said to regularly spend over $2 million toward retaining his youth.  <span class=\"credit\">Bryan Johnson\/Blueprint<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But Hardison, unlike her wealthier contenders, hasn\u2019t spent millions on outr\u00e9 science tricks and techniques aimed at staying forever young.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the West Coast gal wasn\u2019t even that interested in longevity until two years ago when her son-in-law, Eric, suggested she give the lifetime Olympics a try.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Upon submitting her blood sample for testing, the grandma was tickled to learn she was only aging at a rate of 0.74 every chronological year \u2014 meaning she was aging just nine months out of every 12. <\/p>\n<p>If she\u2019d aged at this rate all her life, her 64-year-old body would now be \u201caged\u201d 48.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Hardison ages at a rate of only 0.74 each year.  <span I\u2019ve never been into taking vitamins and supplements.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She is, however, into taking care of herself with these health hacking habits.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work out for 60 minutes or more\u00a0<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Is age <a Being physically active regularly can help seniors to stay in shape.   <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Exercise is a mainstay of Hardison\u2019s schedule, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/article-13904843\/Im-64-years-old-Im-ageing-super-slowly-science-proved-secrets-staying-young.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed to the Daily Mail<\/a>. The former stay-at-home mom either works up a good sweat on her treadmill or elliptical bike for an hour each day. <\/p>\n<p>At 5-foot-7 and 127 pounds, the weight-conscious belle, who also takes 75-minute swims for fitness, implements interval training into most of her workouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI [go] hard for one minute, then go at an average speed for one minute, then 30 seconds hard and then 30 seconds normally \u2014 repeating these cycles for an hour,\u201d said Hardison. \u201cA medical professional told me that kind of interval training was good for my brain health, and I\u2019ve felt the difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minding your mind\u00a0<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Reading has become vital to Hardison\u2019s cognitive health.   <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images\/iStockphoto<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very keen to keep my brain active, study, learn and engage my mind,\u201d said Hardison.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To stay sharp, the Arizonan often listens to audiobooks during her physical workouts and reads memories and World War II novels in her spare time. <\/p>\n<p>Preserving her cognitive health became key for Hardison after watching her late mom and 74-year-old brother suffer from dementia; her dad also endured a steady mental decline after a series of strokes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stock up on supplements\u00a0<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Vitamins and supplements like magnesium, ginger, L-theanine and fisetin can reportedly do wonders for anti-aging.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images\/iStockphoto<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At her son-in-law Eric\u2019s urging, Hardison has become happily hooked on anti-aging pills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI start taking so-called \u00adlongevity supplements, which \u00adcontain ingredients such as magnesium, ginger, L-theanine and fisetin, and I now spend about $100 per month on them,\u201d she said, adding that she gets her goodies from Novos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I understand it, magnesium supports a healthy metabolism and regulates blood pressure and blood sugar levels; ginger can protect against cell damage and improve blood sugar regulation; L-\u00adtheanine can help reduce stress and anxiety and fisetin is a natural antioxidant, found in things like strawberries,\u201d continued Hardison. \u201cIt apparently reduces the amount of senescent cells, which damage healthy nearby cells and which accelerate the aging \u00adprocess.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do less, move more<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A \u201cblessed\u201d Hardison (above) is the happiest when spending time with her huge family.  <span class=\"credit\">Facebook \/ Steve Hardison<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While staying physically and mentally fit are musts, Hardison says keeping her heart happy by spending time with her loved ones is a game-changer, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you live a life of contribution, filled with people you love, you\u2019ll feel better,\u201d she advised, lauding her \u201cbest friendships\u201d with her now-adult brood \u2014 ranging in age from 45 to 37 \u2014 and special one-on-one time with her 11 grandkids.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mantra for this year has been do less, love more,\u201d added Hardison. \u201cI\u2019ve found myself just sitting with my husband more, holding hands, just being with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been married for 46 years and while sometimes life gets less exciting as you get older, it can also get a lot richer.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate\u00a0<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Hardison savors a few pieces of chocolate on a daily basis.  <span class=\"credit\">dragonstock \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chowing down chocolate treats three times a day is how Hardison keeps the stress away, she says, claiming she carefully indulges in the sweet stuff morning, noon and night.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cPeople are usually surprised when I say I start the day with chocolate milk and a slice of bread, but I do believe that eating is one of the joys of life, so I don\u2019t want to cut out everything that\u2019s fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The homemaker makes her own bread, eats hearty salads filled with nutrient-dense greens and proteins, weighs her food intake for portion control and rarely dines out at restaurants.
