The feature is turned on by default but can be changed in a phone\u2019s settings. The tool prevents the installation of applications from unauthorized sources and blocks \u201cmalicious activity,\u201d according to Samsung. <\/p>\n<p>In a lawsuit filed in San Francisco federal court \u2014 Epic\u2019s second against Google \u2014 the company said Auto Blocker \u201cis virtually guaranteed to entrench Google\u2019s dominance over Android app distribution.\u201d Epic, developer of the popular game \u201cFortnite,\u201d filed the lawsuit to prevent Google from \u201cnegating the long overdue promise of competition in the Android App Distribution Market,\u201d according to the complaint. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAllowing this coordinated illegal anti-competitive dealing to proceed hurts developers and consumers and undermines both the jury\u2019s verdict and regulatory and legislative progress around the world,\u201d Epic Games said in a post on its website.<\/p>\n<p>Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Samsung said it \u201cactively fosters market competition, enhances consumer choice, and conducts its operations fairly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe features integrated into our devices are designed in accordance with Samsung\u2019s core principles of security, privacy, and user control, and we remain fully committed to safeguarding users\u2019 personal data. Users have the choice to disable Auto Blocker at any time,\u201d Samsung said, adding that it plans to \u201cvigorously contest Epic Game\u2019s baseless claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Epic launched its Epic Games Store on iPhones in the European Union and on Android devices worldwide in August. The company claims that it now takes \u201can exceptionally onerous 21-step process\u201d to download a third-party app outside of the Google Play Store or the Samsung Galaxy Store. A support page on Epic\u2019s website shows a four-step process to remove the Auto Blocker setting.
