This cooling effect was tied to the significant reduction in human activity on Earth, which affected the radiation emissions reaching the Moon. As a result, the <strong>reduced radiation emissions from Earth<\/strong> due to lockdown measures directly impacted the Moon\u2019s surface temperature. According to the researchers, this was an &#8220;anomalous dip&#8221; in lunar temperatures. They stated, &#8220;The Moon has possibly experienced the effect of COVID-19 lockdown, visualized as an anomalous decrease in lunar nighttime surface temperatures during that period.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The data used for this study was collected through <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/lro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>NASA\u2019s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter<\/strong><\/a>, which recorded lunar surface temperatures from 2017 to 2023. By comparing data before, during, and after the lockdowns, the researchers observed that as human activity resumed following the initial lockdowns, lunar temperatures began to rise again.
