Trump had pulled out of a scheduled interview with \u201c60 Minutes\u201d that would have been broadcast during a prime-time election special next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The election special, a quadrennial tradition for the program, will move ahead on Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern, and feature interviews with Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In a statement, the network said Mr. Trump had initially accepted an invitation to be interviewed by one of the show\u2019s correspondents, Scott Pelley. But on Tuesday, CBS was told that Mr. Trump\u2019s campaign \u201chas decided not to participate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cOur original invitation to former President Donald Trump to be interviewed on \u201860 Minutes\u2019 stands,\u201d the network added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201c60 Minutes\u201d typically runs interviews with both major-party candidates in the weeks before a presidential election. According to CBS, Mr. Trump\u2019s campaign had been the first to accept its invitation; each candidate was to receive two segments during the one-hour broadcast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Pelley is expected to address the matter with viewers on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">This is not the first time that Mr. Trump has clashed with \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d which is the country\u2019s most popular television news program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In 2020, Mr. Trump\u2019s campaign abruptly <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/10\/20\/us\/politics\/trump-lesley-stahl-60-minutes.html\" title=\"\">cut short<\/a> an interview with the correspondent Lesley Stahl, complaining that she was \u201cnegative,\u201d and later taunted her on Twitter.
