It comes as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/01\/nike-nke-earnings-q1-2025.html\">revenues at <\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NKE\/\">Nike<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span>, whose products it sells, fell short on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The cautious uptick follows a negative start to the trading month on Wall Street, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0shedding 1.5% and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\">S&amp;P 500<\/a>\u00a0losing 0.9%, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/07\/16\/trump-iran-kill-plot-secret-service.html\">Iran<\/a>\u00a0launched a ballistic missile attack on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/09\/24\/we-have-much-more-on-the-way-if-they-will-continue-israels-president-warns-hezbollah.html\">Israel<\/a>\u00a0in retaliation for its recent killing of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/09\/29\/israel-pounds-lebanon-pressuring-hezbollah-after-killing-its-leader.html\">Hezbollah<\/a>\u00a0leader\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/09\/28\/hezbollah-leader-hassan-nasrallah-killed-in-strike-israeli-army-says.html\">Hassan Nasrallah<\/a>\u00a0and an Iranian commander in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/01\/israeli-forces-launch-ground-offensive-in-lebanon-as-markets-eye-escalation-.html\">Lebanon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The attack came on the heels of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/09\/30\/israeli-military-says-limited-operation-against-hezbollah-targets-in-southern-lebanon-has-begun.html\">Israel<\/a>&#8216;s deployment of ground forces into south Lebanon, escalating its offensive on Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Oil prices <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/01\/crude-oil-prices-today.html\">spiked<\/a> following the attack, while the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.VIX\/\">CBOE Volatility Index (VIX)<\/a>, also known as Wall Street&#8217;s fear gauge, topped 20 at its high of the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/01\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\">U.S. futures<\/a> remained lower in overnight trading, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/10\/01\/asia-pacific-stock-markets-update.html\">Asia-Pacific<\/a> markets were mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Mainland China markets were closed Wednesday for the Golden Week holiday and will remain closed for the rest of the week.
