The guitar, which came with a \u201ccertificate of authenticity\u201d, was one of a number of items being auctioned along with tickets to see artists including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/music\/news\/chris-stapleton-super-bowl-best-national-anthem-b2281042.html\">Chris Stapleton<\/a> and George Strait, and a trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/texas-man-says-smashed-taylor-swift-signed-guitar-bid-4000-auction-jok-rcna173483\">NBC News<\/a> on Tuesday (1 October), Estes said there was \u201cnothing malicious\u201d about the stunt and he had intended it as \u201ca joke\u201d, while also confirming that he is a Trump supporter. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just a joke at an auction that we had to raise money for kids, right?\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s all it was. There was nothing mean about it, nothing bad about it. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Estes told NBC that he is a Trump supporter and had been displeased by Swift\u2019s endorsement of Harris: \u201cYes, you can connect the dots there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Since the incident, questions have arisen regarding the guitar\u2019s authenticity.
