This marked the first suicide bombing in Lebanese history.<\/p>\n<section class=\"fake-br-for-article-body\"\/>\n<p>Ahmad was guided by one of Hezbollah&#8217;s founding figures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-822285\">Imad Mughniya<\/a>, who was mysteriously assassinated in Damascus in 2008.<\/p>\n<section class=\"fake-br-for-article-body\"\/>\n<figure class=\"article-image-in-body\"><figcaption class=\"article-image-caption article-image-credit\" style=\"max-width:100%;height:auto;\">Hezbollah operatives pay their respects during the funeral of assassinated commander Imad Mughniyeh in Beirut&#8217;s suburbs  (credit: REUTERS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to Hezbollah&#8217;s official news bulletin, al-Ahed, Ahmad&#8217;s attack &#8220;marked the beginning of all martyrdom operations, and was the torch of resistance among youth, who were eager to defend their homeland.&#8221;<\/p>\n<section class=\"fake-br-for-article-body\"\/>\n<p>His death is commemorated every year with &#8220;Martyr Day,&#8221;
