And although \u201cAbbott\u201d is produced by Warner Bros. TV, the show airs on Disney\u2019s ABC, while \u201cSunny\u201d airs on Disney\u2019s FX network, so such a crossover seemed in the realm of possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBrunson had been coy about it at first, but earlier this summer, Brunson hinted to Variety\u2019s \u201cAwards Circuit Podcast that something was indeed in the works. Without specifying it, she had said a big crossover was happening \u2014 and when <em>Variety<\/em> suggested \u201cSunny,\u201d she didn\u2019t say no. \u201cDeals are made. I want you guys to know that. I\u2019ll say I\u2019m really excited for it,\u201d she said. \u201cYou want to find fun ways to shake things up without  abandoning what you what you built. And I\u2019m excited for this crossover of which I will not name with the other project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m excited to just shake things up in this way,\u201d she added. \u201cI love TV, everyone knows that, but I love TV moments, and I miss those big TV moments. I remember how exciting they were. Anything I can do with \u2018Abbott\u2019 to help keep that culture alive of fun TV, I will do. So I think this is going to be fun TV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe idea first hatched in February, when McElhenney referenced the famed \u201cWilly\u2019s Chocolate Experience\u201d disaster of an event in Glasgow. \u201cA lot of you are saying this feels like an episode of Sunny, but to me it feels more like an @alwayssunnt @AbbotElemABC crossover episode,\u201d he wrote on X. Later, on Instagram, Brunson took a screenshot of McElhenney\u2019s post and added, \u201cJust say the word @robmcelhenney. I love you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBy this summer\u2019s San Diego Comic-Con, obviously something was already in play, as Brunson teased that there would be an upcoming crossover:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u201cI\u2019m not gonna tell you with who, or with what, or where, or when,\u201d she said, as the crowd gasped and cheered. \u201cBut it\u2019s really exciting and I think it\u2019ll change television as we know it.\u201d (\u201cHouse of the Dragon,\u201d star Lisa Ann Walter joked.)<\/p>\n<p>Following the onstage surprise, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/quinta-brunson-abbott-elementary-season-4-comic-con-1236087763\/\">Brunson and the cast visited <em>Variety<\/em>\u2019s Comic-Con Studio<\/a> where we made a few educated guesses about which show they\u2019d crossover with: Fox\u2019s \u201cThe Simpsons,\u201d FX\u2019s \u201cThe Bear,\u201d ABC\u2019s \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d or FX\u2019s \u201cAlways Sunny in Philadelphia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that those are all ridiculous, crazy things to say,\u201d Brunson replied, smiling, but keeping a straight face, as not to give anything away. \u201cI don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t know what it is.
