far, far away.<\/p>\n<p>The James Webb Space Telescope has detected a peculiar region of space that could be a \u201cmissing link\u201d to what\u2019s understood about the early days of space and its original stars.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cunprecedented\u201d discovery shows stars within the galactic system GS-NDG-9422 (9422) radiating an \u201codd light signature.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The phenomenon is due to gasses outshining stars in the galaxy, which was found about 1 billion years after the big bang,<a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/missions\/webb\/in-odd-galaxy-nasas-webb-finds-potential-missing-link-to-first-stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> according to NASA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy first thought in looking at the galaxy\u2019s spectrum was, \u2018That\u2019s weird,\u2019\u201d researcher Alex Cameron said of the finding, published in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/mnras\/advance-article\/doi\/10.1093\/mnras\/stae1547\/7697173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>He added that the unraveling \u201cwill help us understand how the cosmic story began.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cameron and theorist Harley Katz began running computer models to see how it was the cosmic gas could ultimately become hotter than their solar sources. Their modeling was a spitting image of what the Webb telescope saw \u2014 something consistent with so-called Population III stars that existed in the early universe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like these stars must be much hotter and more massive than what we see in the local universe, which makes sense because the early universe was a very different environment,\u201d Katz said.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, hot stars more local to Earth have temperatures between 70,000 to 90,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Way out in the universe\u2019s boondocks by galaxy 9422, those temps scald beyond 140,000 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>That is due to what the experts believe to be \u201ca brief phase of intense star formation\u201d creating several hot stars. Essentially, the galaxy\u2019s gas clouds are taking in such a high volume of photons that it\u2019s out-heating and outshining the source \u2014 similar to scorching asphalt being pounded by the sun.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" data-modal-image=\"33497370\"><br added.<\/p>\n<p>And, thanks to the breakthrough Webb telescope, this is only the beginning of a better knowledge of deep space and its origins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very exciting time, to be able to use the Webb telescope to explore this time in the universe that was once inaccessible,\u201d Cameron said. \u201cWe are just at the beginning of new discoveries and
