entertainment knew about this?\u201d Musk <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1841283151928381443\">asked<\/a> his followers on 1 October.<\/p>\n<p>Many were quick to point out Musk\u2019s own ties to Combs, who was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/diddy-lawsuits-sean-combs-sexual-assault-accusers-b2622238.html\">arrested<\/a> by federal agents on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/p-diddy-charges-arrest-sean-combs-party-b2620745.html\">racketeering and sex trafficking charges<\/a> and denies wrongdoing. <\/p>\n<p>\u201chmmm maybe you could have asked him when he invested in your twitter deal,\u201d Mac wrote on X in response to the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow many times did you meet Diddy,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZaleskiLuke\/status\/1841291625965797805\">asked<\/a> Cond\u00e9 Nast legal affairs editor Luke Zaleski.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cthere\u2019s literally a photo of you with ghislaine maxwel,\u201d added music critic Anthony Fantano, referencing the key ally of the late Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell and Musk were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/jeffrey-epstein-death-sex-trafficking-abuse-underage-fbi-investigation-ghislaine-maxwell-a9054181.html\">photographed together in 2014<\/a>, years after Epstein reached a plea deal with Florida prosecutors on accusations of sexually abusing dozens of girls.<\/p>\n<p>A fund tied to Combs is an investor in X, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/tech\/elon-musk-x-investors-list-b2600470.html\">according to a list of funders<\/a> unveiled in federal court in August. <\/p>\n<p>Musk also once boasted that he and Combs are good friends, according to the new book <em>Character Limit<\/em>, by <em>New York Times <\/em>reporters Kate Conger and Ryan Mac.<\/p>\n<p>The claim reportedly came during a meeting where when an executive of Revolt TV, a media company Combs founded, expressed concerns about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/elon-musk-twitter-suspended-accounts-b2239851.html\">growing racism on <\/a>X. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;\u2019I don\u2019t know if you know this, but Puff is an investor in Twitter,\u2019 [Musk] said, using a nickname for Combs,&#8221; <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/the-byte\/elon-musk-diddy-friendship\">according to the book<\/a>. &#8220;\u2019You know, he\u2019s a good friend of mine. We text a lot.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Independent <\/em>has contacted Musk for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors allege Combs is the architect and leader of a \u201ccriminal enterprise\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/sean-p-diddy-combs-arrest-allegations-b2613968.html\">engaged in alleged arson, kidnapping, forced labor, bribery, obstruction of justice and sex trafficking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they recovered assault rifles with defaced serial numbers, narcotics, and \u201cmore than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant\u201d from Combs\u2019s residences, allegedly used in exploitative situations the mogul dubbed \u201cFreak Offs\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/diddy-baby-oil-lubes-freak-offs-house-bathroom-raid-b2618500.html\">scores of women accuse the mogul of sexual misconduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>News outlets obtained leaked video of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/diddy-sean-combs-video-assault-girlfriend-cassie-lawsuit-b2547031.html\">Diddy brutally beating his then-girlfriend<\/a>, the singer Cassie, in a hotel hallway.
