{"id":110734,"date":"2024-10-05T16:25:50","date_gmt":"2024-10-05T09:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=110734"},"modified":"2024-10-05T16:25:50","modified_gmt":"2024-10-05T09:25:50","slug":"harris-tells-michigan-supporters-i-will-never-tell-you-what-car-you-have-to-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=110734","title":{"rendered":"Harris tells Michigan supporters, \u2018I will never tell you what car you have to drive\u2019\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday hit the brakes hard on her <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/27\/us-news\/harris-campaign-now-says-vp-does-not-support-electric-vehicle-mandate-in-latest-flip-flop\/\">previous support for banning gasoline-powered cars<\/a>, pledging that she will \u201cnever\u201d tell Americans \u201cwhat car you have to drive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harris, 59, made the remark during a campaign rally in Flint, Mich., where she also promised to \u201cretool existing factories\u201d and push policies that support innovation in \u201cadvanced batteries\u201d and \u201celectric vehicles.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichigan, let us be clear: Contrary to what my opponent is suggesting, I will never tell you what kind of car you have to drive,\u201d the vice president said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>As a senator, Harris was a strong supporter of outlawing gasoline-powered cars. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The vice president\u2019s declaration is an apparent response to a <a href=\"https:\/\/host2.adimpact.com\/admo\/viewer\/fabac5d4-95ad-417e-9eac-751b6596036a\/\">Trump campaign ad<\/a> running in Michigan, which claims, \u201cKamala Harris wants to end all gas powered cars.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrazy but true,\u201d the ad continues. \u201cHarris\u2019s push requiring electric-only is failing big and Michigan auto workers are paying the price.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>In her Senate days, Harris championed an electric-vehicle mandate \u2013 which her campaign now says she is opposed to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a California senator, the Democrat co-sponsored legislation in April 2019 that sought to ban the sale of gasoline-powered vehicles by 2040.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Harris-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/senator-merkley-congressman-levin-introduce-major-legislation-to-transition-america-to-100-zero-emission-vehicles-2019\/\">Zero-Emission Vehicles Act of 2019<\/a> \u2013 introduced by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.) \u2013 was announced as a \u201cbold plan for transitioning the United States to 100% zero-emission vehicles.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The bill would have forced automobile companies to transition away from fossil fuels by requiring 50% of new passenger vehicle sales be zero emission cars by 2030. The mandate would ramp up 5% each year until 2040, when 100% of new vehicles sold would be required to be electric or hydrogen powered.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Harris had backed the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act of 2019.  <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAfter model year 2040, the [Environmental Protection Agency] Administrator may issue an injunction on the manufacture of any passenger vehicles other than zero emission vehicles by a vehicle manufacturer,\u2019\u2019 reads the text of the proposed legislation supported by Harris.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Harris launched her short-lived 2020 White House bid, her campaign website promoted even more aggressive standards \u2013 pushing for a ban of internal combustion engine cars by 2035, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/inside-kamala-harriss-plan-to-make-bidens-unpopular-ev-mandate-even-more-aggressive\/\">Washington Free Beacon<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In March, the Harris-Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/20\/business\/epa-issues-less-strict-auto-emission-rules-that-slow-transition-to-evs\/\">finalized a crackdown<\/a> on gas cars, pushing the EPA to enact regulations that are expected to result in more than two-thirds of passenger cars and light trucks sold by 2032 to be electric or hybrid vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The EPA rule tailpipe-pollution limits will see 56% of new vehicles sold in the US be electric by 2032 and 13% plug-in hybrids or other partially electric cars \u2013 despite the relatively low demand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut here\u2019s what I will do,\u201d Harris told her Michigan supporters. \u201cI will invest in communities like Flint.
