(KDKA) \u2014 Former President Donald Trump held a rally Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, where, almost three months ago, <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/feature\/trump-rally-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">he was nearly assassinated<\/a><\/span>. Appearing with him for the first time on the campaign trail was billionaire Elon Musk.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tonight I returned to Butler in the aftermath of tragedy and heartache to deliver a simple message to the people of Pennsylvania and to the people of America,&#8221; Trump said during his opening remarks at the Butler Farm Show grounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For 16 harrowing seconds during the gunfire, time stopped as this vicious monster unleashed pure evil from his sniper&#8217;s perch not so far away,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;But by the hand of providence and the grace of God, that villain did not succeed in his goal, did not come close.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He also praised the &#8220;men and women of the U.S. Secret Service who threw their bodies on top of mine without even a thought for their own lives.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was not even a moment of doubt in their minds,&#8221; Trump added. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s rally was set up to be almost identical to the one in July, complete with a large American flag blowing over the crowd, but with <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-butler-rally-return-secret-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">notable security exceptions<\/a><\/span>. Comperatore&#8217;s widow and daughters were in attendance Saturday. As he has before, Vance claimed, without evidence, that it was Democratic rhetoric that led to the assassination attempt in Butler, as well as the <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-assassination-attempt-investigation-ryan-wesley-routh-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">apparent assassination attempt<\/a><\/span> on Sept. 15 in West Palm Beach, Florida, saying &#8220;it was only a matter of time before somebody tried to kill him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And with all the hatred they have spewed at President Trump, it was only a matter of time before somebody tried to kill him,&#8221; Vance told the crowd. &#8220;And that&#8217;s exactly what happened, not just here in Butler, Pennsylvania, but just a few weeks later in Florida, three weeks ago, while these guys still go out there and attacking him as a threat to democracy.&#8221; \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s son, Eric Trump, and his wife, Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, also addressed the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Donald Trump was made for such a time as this,&#8221; Lara Trump said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the guest list, rally attendees included\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/david-dutch-trump-rally-shooting-victim-released-from-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">one of the men who was injured<\/a><\/span>\u00a0at the July 13 rally, along with\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/marc-fogel-mother-donald-trump-rally-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Malphine Fogel,<\/a><\/span>\u00a0the mother of\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/who-is-marc-fogel-the-western-pennsylvania-native-detained-in-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Marc Fogel<\/a><\/span>, a Pennsylvania native imprisoned in Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche said the Butler County Emergency Services Agency was a\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/trump-rally-butler-township-saturday-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">unified communications bridge<\/a><\/span>\u00a0between the U.S. Secret Service, state and local police, fire, and EMS.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Security for Saturday&#8217;s Trump rally was different\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>On July 13, Trump was grazed in the ear,\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/trump-to-honor-family-corey-comperatore-butler-rally\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Comperatore was killed<\/a><\/span>, and two others were injured when Crooks opened fire from the top of a nearby building.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"embed embed--type-video embed--type-content_video is-video embed--float-none embed--size-medium \"><figcaption class=\"embed__caption-container\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/video\/security-heightened-around-butler-farm-show-grounds-for-trumps-return\/\" class=\"embed__headline-link\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>          <span class=\"embed__icon\"><br \/>\n            <svg viewbox=\"0 0 32 32\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><use xlink:href=\"#icon-video\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/p>\n<p>          <span class=\"embed__headline\">Security heightened around Butler Farm Show grounds for Trump&#8217;s return<\/span><\/p>\n<p>          <span class=\"embed__video-duration\">03:00<\/span><\/p>\n<p>                      <\/a><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Unlike the July 13 rally, on Saturday\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-butler-rally-return-secret-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">there was one command post<\/a><\/span>, and in that post, personnel from every law enforcement and emergency services agencies worked the rally.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the first rally, three separate radio systems created\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/secret-service-trump-assassination-attempt-july-13\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">communication delays<\/a><\/span>. On Saturday, there was one for state and local police and one for the Secret Service. A Secret Service agent was also embedded with each state and local team.<\/p>\n<p>Goldinger told KDKA-TV earlier this week that the snipers posted inside the AGR building where\u00a0<span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/new-video-trump-gunman-rally-before-shooting\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">Crooks fired from<\/a><\/span>\u00a0had been asked to help again. Law enforcement were also on top of the AGR building.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Attendee who was behind Trump during shooting planned to attend Saturday<\/h2>\n<p>One person who expected to be at Saturday&#8217;s rally was a man who was sitting behind Trump when the former president was grazed by the bullet.<\/p>\n<p>Chesher told CBS Pittsburgh he witnessed the attempted assassination.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a couple of months but I&#8217;m still processing what happened that day. The emotions are all over the place,&#8221; Chesher said. &#8220;&#8230;We&#8217;re forever connected to President Trump now.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chesher said he believed there would be &#8220;a spiritual positivity&#8221; at Saturday&#8217;s rally. He also planned to sit behind Trump again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He said it should be the most secure event. In my heart, I believe it will be the most secure event.
