It is only a little behind the second and fourth \u201cResident Evil\u201d remakes (91 &amp; 93), but well above the third RE\u2019s remake (79) and \u201cResident Evil Village\u201d (84).<\/p>\n<p>Compared to other games of late it\u2019s on par with \u201cPersona 3 Reload,\u201d the \u201cRiven\u201d remake and \u201cPrince of Persia: The Lost Crown\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The consensus from reviews, none of which are negative and less than 10% of which are mixed, seems to be it is a successful remake, staying very true to the original whilst modernising it effectively.<\/p>\n<p>The same doesn\u2019t seem true of Sony\u2019s \u201cUntil Dawn\u201d remake for PS5 and PC going by responses (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/until-dawn-ps5-2024-remake-pc-launches-to-mixed-reviews-on-steam\/\">The Gamer<\/a>).  Too few reviews are in so far for a Metacritic ranking, but audience reviews there and on Steam are decidedly mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Though some Steam reviews are continued protests about the PSN requirement, many of the negative ones cite frequent crashes and freezes in regards to the PC version and optimization issues even on high-end hardware.  Others are seeing stuttering, screen tearing and random bugs \u2013 all signs of poor optimization.<\/p>\n<p>The few PS5 reviews so far have complained about poor frame rates and crashes as well.  There\u2019s also debate about the creative choices made \u2013 the change of the game\u2019s soundtrack in particular, especially the removal of \u201cO Death,\u201d has been met with an almost universally negative reception.<\/p>\n<p>Graphics changes are more mixed \u2013 there\u2019s appreciation for the higher res models, but the new lighting makes the game feel very different at points and removes the moody darkness along with the iconic blue-gray hue of the original.<\/p>\n<p>New scenes have been added in, some of which reportedly hint at a sequel.
