Fourth St. in South Williamsburg was finally emptied this week, after police forced the squatters back out onto the sidewalk. They also arrested one of them: Ryan Grewal, 26, who was charged with felony criminal mischief for damaging a motorcycle outside nearby JANE Motorcycles, an NYPD spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>Grewal told police he lived at 60 S. Fourth Street.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Police helped clear the brownstone on Monday. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of P.J. Ximenez, the building\u2019s new manager.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Ximenez said the squatters first took over the entire second floor after breaking into the brownstone on Sept. 21. They installed a door barricade secured with a wooden plank, on which someone scribbled, \u201cHome is where the blunt is.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I first came in here, I found a bunch of needles and [heroin] spoons, and two used <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/25\/us-news\/nycs-drug-themed-vending-machine-is-so-popular-workers-have-to-refill-it-twice-a-week\/\">Narcans<\/a>,\u201d Ximenez said. \u201cSo, I guess two people must\u2019ve OD\u2019d in here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/21\/us-news\/accused-nyc-serial-squatter-facing-3rd-eviction-lied-about-hawaii-move-to-score-cheap-uws-apartment-suit\/\">squatters<\/a> \u2014 including one who walks with a cane that Ximenez said the others call \u201cTripod\u201d \u2014 also busted into an attached carriage house behind the building. They then used sheets of corrugated steel to barricade those doors. Computers stored inside were also stolen, Ximenez said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>This squatter goes by Tripod, Ximenez said. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of P.J. Ximenez<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cops boarded up the 6,090-square-foot brownstone on Monday, and by Tuesday, owner Stella Tsang \u2014 who <a href=\"https:\/\/traded.co\/deals\/new-york\/multifamily\/sale\/60-south-4th-street\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">purchased the building in 2021<\/a> with an eye towards refurbishing and modernizing it \u2014 had a rotation of security guards perched on the porch.<\/p>\n<p>The squatters tried convincing police they were there lawfully. <\/p>\n<p>Ximenez, who has lived in the neighborhood for 58 years, said the squatters presented cops with a lease agreement they said was signed by the building\u2019s previous owner, Francine Rosado. It was dated July 25. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cProblem is, Francine died in 2020,\u201d said Ximenez, showing The Post her mass card. \u201cI guess she rose from the dead to sign that lease.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The group presented a fraudulent lease to cops. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of P.J. Ximenez<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ximenez said everything inside the brownstone was moved onto the sidewalk Tuesday, and the squatters later showed up in a van to collect their belongings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re professionals, they planned this,\u201d Ximenez offered. \u201cAnd I think they\u2019ve taken over other spots, because when they were getting into that van, one of them had said they were going home, and another goes, \u2018Which one?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, on a tour of the 114-year-old brownstone, The Post was shown the three stained king-sized mattresses the squatters had been sleeping on. Graffiti now marks most of the walls, and since the building has no running water, the squatters urinated into mason jars and defecated into buckets, Ximenez said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was disgusting,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Between Sept. 21 and Oct. 2, the group generated 17 complaints to 311.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey took two of my packages,\u201d said one irate resident, who asked not to be named. \u201cI gave cops the  footage, so I don\u2019t want them retaliating against my building.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The building dates back to 1910, and has an attached carriage house. <span class=\"credit\">J.C. Rice<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThese idiot kids were always blocking the sidewalk, and they\u2019d get real nasty if you asked them to step aside,\u201d said Cordelia Dalle, another neighbor who lives a few blocks from the brownstone. \u201cThey were loud and they smelled, and I\u2019m really glad this didn\u2019t drag on for months and months, which happens. I hope they don\u2019t come back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ximenez said the squatters should be behind bars, after breaking in, damaging the building, and committing identify theft with the forged lease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are bad people doing drugs,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re not homeless, they\u2019re drug addicts. They\u2019re criminals.
