NASA&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/dart-asteroid-mission\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/dart-asteroid-mission\"><u>DART<\/u><\/a> (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) spacecraft knocked off course in September 2022. The binary <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/didymos-asteroid-facts\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/didymos-asteroid-facts\"><u>asteroid system<\/u><\/a> was previously visited by NASA&#8217;s DART spacecraft, which intentionally collided with Dimorphos in 2022 and changed its orbit around Didymos as a demonstration of a planetary defense technique designed to change the trajectory of a potentially hazardous asteroid.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"\/>\n<p>If all goes well, Hera will arrive at Dimorphos in late 2026.
