He was 63.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher passed away of cancer on Friday in Michigan, his rep confirmed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2024\/10\/06\/madonna-brother-christopher-ciccone-dead\/?adid=social-tw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TMZ.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Post has reached out to Madonna and Christopher\u2019s reps for comment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christopher Ciccone and Madonna in 1998. <span class=\"credit\">Sygma via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christopher Ciccone at London Fashion Week 2012. <span class=\"credit\">PA Images via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Christopher\u2019s death comes less than two weeks after the passing of his and Madonna\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/26\/entertainment\/madonnas-stepmom-joan-ciccone-dies-a-very-aggressive-cancer-at-81\/\">stepmother, Joan Clare Ciccone<\/a>, from cancer. One of their brothers, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/02\/26\/madonnas-older-brother-anthony-ciccone-dead-at-66\/?_gl=1*hhjjpm*_ga*MjAyMjA0MDUzMC4xNzIxOTI5OTU1*_ga_0DZ7LHF5PZ*MTcyNzM5ODAyNi4xOTguMS4xNzI3Mzk5MTI5LjguMC4w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anthony Ciccone<\/a>, died in Feb. 2023.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Christopher was an artist, interior decorate and designer. He served as the art director on Madonna\u2019s Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990 and was the tour director for her The Girlie Show in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>He also directed music videos for\u00a0Dolly Parton, and Tony Bennett in the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>The brother-sister duo had a falling out which Christopher wrote about in his 2008 tell-all book, <a href=\"https:\/\/r.nypostlink.com?btn_ref=org-19984c113c692001&amp;btn_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FLife-Sister-Madonna-Christopher-Ciccone%2Fdp%2FB002YX0G0K%3Ftag%3Dnypost-20%26asc_refurl%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2024%2F10%2F06%2Fentertainment%2Fmadonnas-brother-christopher-ciccone-dead-at-63%2F%26asc_source%3Dweb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">\u201cLife With My Sister Madonna,\u201d<\/a> which became a New York Times bestseller. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madonna and Christopher Ciccone at a Golden Globes party in 1997. <span class=\"credit\">Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madonna and Christopher Ciccone in 1989. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Christopher claimed that Madonna outed him in her 1991 interview with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/donshewey.com\/music_articles\/madonna1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Advocate<\/a>,\u00a0where she said, \u201cMy brother Christopher\u2019s gay, and he and I have always been the closest members of my family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also accused Madonna\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2019\/12\/24\/madonna-gets-unwanted-christmas-gift-from-ex-husband-guy-ritchie\/\">ex-husband Guy Ritchie<\/a>, whom she was married to from 2000 to 2008, of being homophobic.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Christopher said the \u201cturning point\u201d in his relationship with the Grammy Award winner was when she brought cameras to their mother\u2019s grave for her 1991 documentary \u201cTruth or Dare.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madonna, Christopher Ciccone in Paris in 1990. <span class=\"credit\">Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christopher Ciccone. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI kept it inside but I thought to myself, \u2018OK, there are no boundaries now.\u2019 You know, my mother\u2019s now become a side \u2014 a bit player in her life, life story, and it hurt me. And I\u00a0\u2014\u00a0my, my opinion of her altered at that moment. I never said anything about it,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/SummerConcert\/story?id=5366168&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told \u201cGMA\u201d<\/a> in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think, ultimately, she\u2019s a lonely person and, unfortunately, it, it truly is lonely at the top,\u201d Christoper added about his sister.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Madonna, Christopher Ciccone and Alex Keshishian at the \u201cMadonna: Truth or Dare\u201d premiere in May 1991. <span class=\"credit\">Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Madonna\u2019s rep, Liz Rosenberg, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/07\/11\/arts\/11iht-peepfri.2.14393498.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said to the Associated Press at the time<\/a> that the singer didn\u2019t read the tell-all and found it \u201cvery upsetting\u201d that Christopher \u201cdecided to sell a book based on his sister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosenberg added, \u201cI would have to assume she has come to terms with the fact that they do not have a close and loving relationship. And with the book coming out, I assume that will remove the chances of that ever happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christopher addressed his relationship with the \u201cVogue\u201d singer in a 2012 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/lifestyle\/london-life\/christopher-ciccone-no-one-sees-madonna-s-children-my-parents-barely-even-see-them-8139207.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Evening Standard<\/a>,<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Christopher Ciccone at the OUT100 2012 Most Compelling People Of The Year awards. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, we\u2019re good. I don\u2019t work for her, and it\u2019s better this way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I couldn\u2019t be more proud of her. She is a force to be reckoned with. Does she have Barbra Streisand\u2019s voice? No,\u201d Christopher also said about Madonna. \u201cCan she dance like Martha Graham? Probably not. But the combination of her abilities has made her great, and left a huge legacy for her, and through her, for me.
