{"id":111332,"date":"2024-10-07T07:00:58","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T00:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=111332"},"modified":"2024-10-07T07:00:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T00:00:58","slug":"fun-new-mouth-swab-will-tell-you-when-youll-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=111332","title":{"rendered":"Fun New Mouth Swab Will Tell You When You\u2019ll Die"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"incArticle\">\n<div class=\"space-y-4 lg:space-y-0\">\n<p><span>Image by<!-- --> <!-- -->Getty \/ Futurism<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Scientists have devised a fascinating way to determine when you may die.<\/p>\n<p>Known as &#8220;CheekAge,&#8221; this new biological clock-reader developed by the company Tally Health is, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/news-releases\/1058893\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">according to a press release<\/a>, a far less invasive version of so-called &#8220;epigenetic clock&#8221; technology scientists have been using for the past decade to help determine how fast people are aging.<\/p>\n<p>While there are some &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nm.org\/healthbeat\/healthy-tips\/4-habits-super-agers\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">super-agers<\/a>&#8221; who age particularly well, most\u00a0folks&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prb.org\/resources\/fact-sheet-aging-in-the-united-states\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">aging rates<\/a> generally follow\u00a0both genetic trends personal to them and their own lifestyle factors, including smoking, drinking, stress, and diet.<\/p>\n<p>Paired with epigenetic factors \u2014 those that are &#8220;imprinted&#8221; on our DNA from ancestral factors ranging from proximity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4021822\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">environmental pollution<\/a> to the full-body stress of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychiatrist.com\/jcp\/epigenetic-connection-black-disparity\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">dealing with institutional racism<\/a> \u2014 scientists can, with a fairly high level of certainty, determine how fast you&#8217;re going to age.<\/p>\n<p>Put differently: scientists can tell you when you&#8217;re going to die. In the past, however, the process involved either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC11275734\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">taking blood tissue samples<\/a> or being subjected to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2024\/01\/29\/1226911278\/thrive-age-longevity-lab-healthy-aging-live-better-longer\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">battery of tests<\/a> that more resembled a physical assessment than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>Seeking a less-invasive solution, researchers at the New York-based longevity company Tally Health not only came up with a new methodology but are likely intending to sell it to the public.<\/p>\n<p>After sifting through data from a <a href=\"https:\/\/lothian-birth-cohorts.ed.ac.uk\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">longitudinal aging study\u00a0out of Scotland<\/a> that measured elderly patients&#8217; DNA expression (otherwise known as &#8220;methylation&#8221;) over time, the Tally Health team determined that they had acquired enough of a trove of biomarkers to create their own epigenetic clock criteria.<\/p>\n<p>In a new study published in the journal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/journals\/aging\/articles\/10.3389\/fragi.2024.1460360\/full\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\"><em>Frontiers in Aging<\/em><\/a>, the Tally experts explained how they created what they&#8217;re calling a &#8220;second-generation clock,&#8221; which can detect DNA methylation most associated with mortality from cells obtained via a cheek swab.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fact that our epigenetic clock trained on cheek cells predicts mortality when measuring the methylome in blood cells suggests there are common mortality signals across tissues,&#8221; boasted Maxim Shokhirev, the study&#8217;s first author and head of computational biology and data science at Tally Health. &#8220;This implies that a simple, non-invasive cheek swab can be a valuable alternative for studying and tracking the biology of aging.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Because the research was funded and undertaken by a for-profit company, there is also clearly a financial benefit to this research.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, it appears that Tally Health is already selling its cheek swab tests, though it&#8217;s unclear if the methodology boasted in this new paper is the same that&#8217;s included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/try.tallyhealth.com\/tally-test-kit\/\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\">$250 box kit<\/a> advertised on its website, but we&#8217;ve reached out to the company for clarification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>More on aging: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/neoscope\/aging-crests-molecules-microbiomes\" class=\"underline hover:text-neoscope hover:no-underline transition-all duration-200 ease-in-out\" style=\"text-decoration-color:#ff9900\"><em>Scientists Figure Out Exact Ages Your Face Will Start Aging Like Milk<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/neoscope\/cheek-swab-mortality-epigenetics\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image by Getty \/ Futurism Scientists have devised a fascinating way to determine when you may die.
