Nelson<\/a> announced 17 new temple locations, projected a completion time for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/almanac\/temples\/salt-lake\/\">Salt Lake Temple<\/a> and Temple Square renovations, and underscored the role of temples in helping prepare Latter-day Saints for the Second Coming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 17 new temple locations are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Juchit\u00e1n de Zaragoza, Mexico<\/li>\n<li>Santa Ana, El Salvador<\/li>\n<li>Medell\u00edn, Colombia<\/li>\n<li>Santiago, Dominican Republic<\/li>\n<li>Puerto Montt, Chile<\/li>\n<li>Dublin, Ireland<\/li>\n<li>Milan, Italy<\/li>\n<li>Abuja, Nigeria<\/li>\n<li>Kampala, Uganda<\/li>\n<li>Maputo, Mozambique<\/li>\n<li>Coeur d\u2019Alene, Idaho<\/li>\n<li>Queen Creek, Arizona<\/li>\n<li>El Paso, Texas<\/li>\n<li>Huntsville, Alabama<\/li>\n<li>Milwaukee, Wisconsin<\/li>\n<li>Summit, New Jersey<\/li>\n<li>Price, Utah<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The new locations bring The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints\u2019 total number of houses of the Lord \u2014 dedicated, under construction or announced and in planning \u2014 to 367. Of that number, President Nelson has announced 185 of those temples \u2014 or 50.4% \u2014 in the nearly seven years since he was set apart as President of the Church in January 2018. That 50.4% ratio means President Nelson has announced more than half of the Church\u2019s 367 total temples.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 17 locations announced this weekend added to the 15 President Nelson identified in April 2024 general conference makes for 32 temples announced so far in 2024, the four time in as many years that President Nelson has announced 30-plus temples in a single year. He announced 35 in 2022 and last year and 34 new locations in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The preservation and renovation of the Salt Lake Temple and other areas of Temple Square have been underway for nearly five years, President Nelson noted. \u201cPresent projections indicate that this work will be completed by the end of 2026,\u201d he said, adding appreciation to all working on the massive project.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cn-article-body__image-wrapper\" data-width=\"5647\" data-height=\"3765\">\n<figure class=\"c-media-item cn-article-body__image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50;background-color:#F6F6F6;cursor:pointer\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thechurchnews.com\/resizer\/v2\/QY64AAYNURBT3NBFTV5S6AWVHI.JPG?auth=a08dd3774f2a0d38e48e57541b4f6f38ffd1144e877b87b072eb8fc5c6ef5060&amp;focal=0%2C0&amp;width=1600&amp;height=1066 2x\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/><figcaption class=\"c-media-item__fig-caption\"><span class=\"c-media-item__caption\">President Russell M. The Lord is indeed hastening His work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">President Nelson explained that the Church is building temples at such an unprecedented pace because of the instructions from the Lord and the blessings of the temple that help gather Israel on both sides of the veil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThese blessings also help to prepare a people who will prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord,\u201d he said, declaring that \u201cnow is the time for you and for me to prepare for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now is the time for us to make our discipleship our highest priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Regular worship in the temple will help, President Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIn the house of the Lord, we focus on Jesus Christ. We learn of Him. We make covenants to follow Him. We come to know Him. As we keep our temple covenants, we gain greater access to the Lord\u2019s strengthening power. In the temple, we receive protection from the buffetings of the world. We experience the pure love of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father in great abundance. We feel peace and spiritual reassurance, in contrast to the turbulence of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Prophet concluded his emphatic counsel on worship and ordinance work in the house of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHere is my promise to you: Every sincere seeker of Jesus Christ will find Him in the temple. You will feel His mercy. You will find answers to your most vexing questions.
