She addressed comments from Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the governor of Arkansas, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/18\/us\/politics\/sanders-harris-children-backlash.html\" title=\"\">who recently suggested<\/a> that having biological children helped with her humility \u2014 a virtue she implied Ms. Harris lacked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cI don\u2019t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who, one, are not aspiring to be humble,\u201d Ms. Harris told the host, Alex Cooper. \u201cTwo, a whole lot of women out here who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life and children in their life. And I think it\u2019s really important for women to lift each other up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">When the conversation turned to attacks by Republicans against \u201cchildless cat ladies,\u201d Ms. Harris called the criticism, popularized by past comments by Senator JD Vance of Ohio, former President Donald J. Trump\u2019s running mate, \u201cmean and meanspirited.\u201d Ms. Harris referred to her stepchildren, Cole and Ella Emhoff, as her children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cI love those kids to death,\u201d Ms. Harris said. \u201cAnd family comes in many forms. I think that increasingly, you know, all of us understand that this is not the 1950s anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d interview <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/06\/us\/politics\/kamala-harris-interviews-the-view-stern-stephen-colbert.html\" title=\"\">was part of several appearances that Ms. Harris will make this week<\/a> with news outlets and niche podcasts or radio shows.
