I don\u2019t think that\u2019s who they are. I understand [fans] get frustrated with the game, but my message to fans all around is, \u2018We are human as well.\u2019 We\u2019re not always perfect. \u2026 Let\u2019s not forget this is just a game and don\u2019t threaten people\u2019s families.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carlos Rodon and his wife Ashley pose during his Yankees <br \/>introduction on Dec. 22, 2022. <span class=\"credit\">Corey Sipkin for the NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carlos Rodon allowed four runs during his start on Oct. 7. <span class=\"credit\">Jason Szenes for the NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The ugliness came after Rodon allowed four runs over 3 \u00b2\/\u2083 innings in his first postseason start as a Yankee.<\/p>\n<p>The lefty\u2019s Yankee postseason career seemed to be getting off to an excellent start before he fell apart in the fourth.<\/p>\n<p>He struck out the side in order in the first, needing just 12 pitches, and he punctuated each whiff with an exclamation, spinning and yelling on the mound.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>That confidence was soon gone.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/07\/sports\/carlos-rodon-falls-apart-against-royals-in-yankees-disaster\/\">scene all too familiar to Yankee fans<\/a>, Rodon saw his stuff disappear quickly, this time in a critical situation, as he allowed four runs in the top of the fourth after the Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third.<\/p>\n<p>Rodon looked dominant in the first two innings, striking out four and retiring six of the first seven batters he faced before pitching around two hits in the third.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p><strong>Follow The Post\u2019s coverage of the Yankees in the postseason:<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p>But Salvador Perez led off the fourth with a booming homer to left on a hanging 2-0 slider to tie the game at 1-1 and things only got worse from there.<\/p>\n<p>Yuli Gurriel followed with a single off a slider and moved to second on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Tommy Pham put Kansas City ahead with a single to right-center off another poor slider and after Rodon was on the verge of ending the inning without more damage with a strikeout of Hunter Renfroe, Rodon was burned again by a single to right off a slider by Garrett Hampson to make it 3-1 and end his night.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Carlos Rodon reacts during his start on Oct. 7. <span class=\"credit\">Jason Szenes for the NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ian Hamilton entered and gave up an RBI single to Garcia for the fourth and final run of the inning.<\/p>\n<p>Rodon regretted the \u201chittable sliders. I could\u2019ve been better with those pitches.
