{"id":111984,"date":"2024-10-09T01:45:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T18:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=111984"},"modified":"2024-10-09T01:45:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T18:45:46","slug":"analysts-weigh-in-on-what-to-expect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=111984","title":{"rendered":"Analysts weigh in on what to expect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Wall Street analysts are weighing in on what they expect to hear from Tesla (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/TSLA\" data-ylk=\"slk:TSLA;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">TSLA<\/a>) at the company\u2019s \u201cWe, Robot\u201d event Thursday night and possible ramifications for the company.<\/p>\n<p>While most don\u2019t expect a fully functional robotaxi that can be deployed right away, it\u2019s what CEO Elon Musk and Tesla can do to paint a picture of autonomous self-driving that the company envisions for the next five or 10 years down the road that matters.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Jonas of Morgan Stanley, who named Tesla his \u201ctop pick\u201d in the autos space, has nonetheless advised clients to \u201ckeep expectations well managed\u201d for the event.<\/p>\n<p>What will most likely be on display is a demonstration of the latest iteration of FSD [full self-driving] software and a demonstration of a fully autonomous &#8216;cybercab&#8217; in a closed or semi-closed course, Jonas wrote last month. (Tesla YouTube channel)<span class=\"caption-credit\"> (Tesla YouTube channel)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt is our expectation that Tesla will offer a &#8216;dual&#8217; approach with respect to autonomous ridesharing: (1) the fully autonomous app-based cybercab and (2) a &#8216;supervised&#8217; autonomous\/FSD rideshare service. We think the latter of these may get the most attention or have the greatest room to surprise investors, at least near term,\u201d Jonas said.<\/p>\n<p>While the cybercab \u2014 a vehicle envisioned as one without a steering wheel or pedals \u2014 may be the natural fit for a robotaxi, Jonas believes it is the preexisting fleet of Teslas out on the road that, when combined with FSD and Tesla\u2019s upcoming rideshare mobility app, will allow owners of those Tesla EVs to put those vehicles on Tesla\u2019s rideshare service. The true game changer would be unlocking the potential of those vehicles, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas and Morgan Stanley have an Overweight rating and $310 price target on Tesla heading into the event.<\/p>\n<p>Other analysts believe that the cybercab unveiled could actually be the model or basis for a new Tesla passenger vehicle, the long-promised <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/tesla-earnings-q1-175358835.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201cnext-gen\u201d vehicle;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">\u201cnext-gen\u201d vehicle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor Robotaxi Day on Oct 10th, we expect an unveiling of the \u2018CyberCab\u2019 at the venue, [and] some type of robotaxi demo \u2026 Moreover, Tesla should unveil the new lower cost vehicle slated for SOP [start of production] next year (\u201cModel 2\u201d or cheaper\/smaller Model 3 variant),\u201d Deutsche Bank\u2019s Edison Yu wrote in a note.<\/p>\n<p>Yu is referring to the sub-$30K next-gen EV Tesla confirmed would be coming later this year, one that would open up new buyers to the Tesla universe.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caas-figure\">\n<div class=\"caas-figure-with-pb\" style=\"max-height: 528px\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"caas-img-container caas-img-loader\" style=\"padding-bottom:55%\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caas-img caas-lazy has-preview\" alt=\"Tesla's product roadmap from 2024 shareholder meeting presentation (credit: Tesla)\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/rnhjtTra3q1KJcw7DcSMPQ--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTUyOA--\/https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/os\/creatr-uploaded-images\/2024-06\/d327fb80-2a5e-11ef-ae2f-dc115ba5eb7c\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tesla's product roadmap from 2024 shareholder meeting presentation (credit: Tesla)\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/rnhjtTra3q1KJcw7DcSMPQ--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTUyOA--\/https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/os\/creatr-uploaded-images\/2024-06\/d327fb80-2a5e-11ef-ae2f-dc115ba5eb7c\" class=\"caas-img\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><figcaption class=\"caption-collapse\">Tesla&#8217;s product roadmap from 2024 shareholder meeting presentation (Tesla)<span class=\"caption-credit\"> (Tesla)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Yu, who has a Buy rating and $295 price target on Tesla, is also advising clients to be \u201ctactically cautious\u201d on the event as well, as the bar for wowing the Street is high and the likelihood of a \u201csell the news\u201d type of reaction is possible.<\/p>\n<p><button class=\"link caas-button readmore-button-finance collapse-button readmore-button-class\" data-ylk=\"elm:readmore;slk:Story continues\"><span class=\"readmoreButtonText\">Story continues<\/span><\/button><\/p>\n<p>Garrett Nelson of CFRA also believes that a cheaper Tesla EV will be coming alongside the cybercab. While he thinks Tesla plans to create a robotaxi fleet harnessing the cybercab and other Tesla EVs powered by FSD software, he is skeptical of how realistic timing will be for this venture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think this [robotaxi fleet] is still several years away and numerous technological hurdles, safety tests, and regulatory approvals are still standing in the way,\u201d Nelson wrote last week.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caas-figure\">\n<div class=\"caas-figure-with-pb\" style=\"max-height: 540px\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"caas-img-container caas-img-loader\" style=\"padding-bottom:56%\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caas-img caas-lazy has-preview\" alt=\"Tesla's preview of the ride-hailing feature coming to Tesla's App (credit: Tesla)\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/lF3_zucdlF3cVAlvUCmAaA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTU0MA--\/https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/os\/creatr-uploaded-images\/2024-10\/82df45c0-84cc-11ef-8789-04db38002777\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tesla's preview of the ride-hailing feature coming to Tesla's App (credit: Tesla)\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/lF3_zucdlF3cVAlvUCmAaA--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTU0MA--\/https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/os\/creatr-uploaded-images\/2024-10\/82df45c0-84cc-11ef-8789-04db38002777\" class=\"caas-img\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><figcaption class=\"caption-collapse\">Tesla&#8217;s preview of the ride-hailing feature coming to Tesla&#8217;s App. (Tesla)<span class=\"caption-credit\"> (Tesla)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Nelson believes Tesla \u201cremains far from achieving a level of autonomy\u201d that would include capabilities like performing all safety-critical driving functions and monitoring road conditions for an entire trip.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson, who has a Hold rating and $240 price target on Tesla, believes the key question for Tesla\u2019s bull case is whether or not investors will give the company a pass on near- and intermediate-term issues, such as softer EV sales, and continue to focus more on longer-term opportunities like autonomous driving and robotaxi deployment.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in a note published late last week, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives believes Thursday\u2019s event will put Tesla\u2019s long-term vision on full display.<\/p>\n<p>While Ives and other analysts believe Tesla will showcase the cybercab, its next-gen platform, and FSD and AI updates, Ives predicts Musk will also address the \u201cnear-term pain points\u201d seen by investors for self-driving and how the company will overcome them.<\/p>\n<p>Ives added that Tesla, for which Wedbush has an Outperform rating and bullish $300 price target, is going through another transformation not seen since the company&#8217;s volume Model 3 and Y release, with the next phase focused on AI, FSD, and supercomputing. He believes this phase represents $1 trillion in value alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe firmly believe that Tesla remains a robotics\/AI play in the future rather than just an EV vendor,\u201d Ives said. \u201cWe believe this is a pivotal time for Tesla as the company prepares to release its years of Robotaxi R&amp;D shadowed behind the curtains, while Musk &amp; Co. lay out the company\u2019s vision for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Pras Subramanian is a reporter for Yahoo Finance.
