Watch the show later on\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@NBCSAuthentic\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>YouTube<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NBCSAuthentic\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Facebook<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsportsbayarea.com\/nfl\/san-francisco-49ers\/jake-moody-injury-loss-cardinals\/1790347\/\">49ers have found a temporary solution<\/a> at kicker.<\/p>\n<p>Second-year pro Jake Moody will be out for Thursday night\u2019s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a high ankle sprain, so the 49ers signed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WrigMa00.htm\">veteran kicker Matthew Wright<\/a>\u00a0as a placeholder, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>NFL Media&#8217;s Tom Pelissero first reported the news Tuesday, citing sources.<\/p>\n<p>The 49ers also worked out kickers Randy Bullock, Riley Patterson, Anders Carlson and Matt Coghlin, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1843654405603598352\">ESPN&#8217;s Adam Schefter<\/a> reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Wright isn\u2019t a stranger to the 49ers. The 28-year-old had a five-day stint with them in 2023, and also had a short stay on San Francisco\u2019s practice squad early last season, but he never appeared in a game.<\/p>\n<p>Wright signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 as an undrafted free agent, and since has kicked for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers. He also spent time on the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots\u2019 rosters, though he never played in a game for those teams.<\/p>\n<p>Wright has made 40 of 47 field-goal attempts and 35 of 37 extra-point tries in his NFL career.<\/p>\n<p>Moody sustained the ankle injury during San Francisco&#8217;s 24-23 loss Sunday while he tried to tackle Arizona return man DeeJay Dallas.
