AND FOR AN UPDATE ON HOW THIS DAY HAS BEEN GOING, ESPECIALLY HERE IN SPANISH, IT\u2019S GOING TO TALK TO THE SHERIFF HERE, GOING TO TALK TO COMMISSIONER HERE, AS WELL AS THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR. SHERIFF, TELL US, WHERE ARE WE AT? WHAT\u2019S HAPPENING? SO WE\u2019RE IN SPANISH LAKES COUNTRY CLUB, WHICH IS IN NORTHERN FORT PIERCE, JUST TO THE EAST OF LAKEWOOD PARK. COMMUNITY. WE FELT THE EFFECTS HERE AT THE SHERIFF\u2019S OFFICE AND UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAD MULTIPLE TORNADOES TOUCHED DOWN HERE IN THE SPANISH LAKES COMMUNITY, AND WE HAVE LOST SOME LIFE. SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS ARE ON THEIR WAY. OUR DEPUTIES ARE OUT HERE, THE FIRE DISTRICT IS OUT HERE. WE\u2019RE GOING THROUGH THE RUBBLE. WE\u2019RE TRYING TO PROVIDE ANY RECOVER ANYBODY THAT WE CAN PROVIDE, WHATEVER HELP THAT WE CAN. GOVERNOR DESANTIS OFFICE HAS REACHED OUT THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL, NATIONAL GUARD SENDING SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS AS WELL. SOME OF THEM JUST GOT HERE. YOU KNOW, THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE STORM. TAKE WHATEVER PRECAUTIONS YOU CAN. THIS IS THIS IS A UNFORTUNATELY, IT\u2019S GOING TO BE A FATAL STORM. DO YOU HAVE A NUMBER OF THE FATALITIES OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT? WE\u2019RE FOCUSING ON JUST RECOVERING, YOU KNOW, GETTING HELP TO PEOPLE THAT THAT NEED IT. AGAIN, THIS COMMUNITY WAS WAS HIT FROM WHAT THE DOPPLERS ARE SHOWING. WE GOT HIT THE HARDEST, THE QUICKEST. AGAIN WE SAY THIS WASN\u2019T EXPECTED. WE PREPARE FOR THINGS BUT YOU CAN\u2019T EXPECT OR DO ANYTHING WHEN WE HAVE MULTIPLE TORNADOES TOUCHED DOWN IN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN OUR COMMUNITY. IT\u2019S JUST IT\u2019S DEVASTATING. IT\u2019S THERE\u2019S NO WORDS. COULD DESCRIBE IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH, COMMISSIONER. WHAT CAN WE SAY TO THE FOLKS THAT ARE WATCHING THIS TONIGHT? I MEAN, WE\u2019RE WE\u2019RE WAITING FOR A HURRICANE, AND WE HAVE THIS. WELL, I THINK THAT\u2019S THE POINT. YOU KNOW, A HURRICANE COMES IN TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE. YOU HAVE NOTICE. YOU HAVE, YOU KNOW, WHERE THE EYEWALL IS. YOU KNOW, WHEN THE WINDSTORM IS, YOU KNOW, WHERE THE WINDS ARE AT, AT YOUR LOCATION WITH A TORNADO. YOU DON\u2019T KNOW THAT. IT\u2019S ALMOST LIKE HAVING A BOMB DROP IN ANY PLACE IN THE COUNTY. AND THE FACT IS, IS THAT WE WANT TO KEEP PEOPLE AT HOME. YOU DON\u2019T NEED TO BE OUT LOOKING AROUND. WE\u2019RE NOT EVEN INTO THE INTO THE HURRICANE YET, AND WE\u2019RE GOING TO HAVE MORE BANDS AND MORE TORNADOES. AND AS PEOPLE CONTINUE TO WALK AROUND, WE HAVE FATALITIES. WE NEED TO FIND WE HAVE FOLKS THAT WE WANT TO RESCUE. AND SO THAT\u2019S THE IMPORTANT PART HERE. BUT IF YOU\u2019RE AT HOME, STAY AT HOME, DON\u2019T MAKE US COME OUT FOR YOU IN ADDITION TO WHAT WE HAVE OUT HERE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, GEORGE. WE\u2019RE STILL YOU\u2019RE STILL WORKING. WE WERE WE HAD REPORTS OF BETWEEN 6 AND 12 TORNADOES TOUCHING DOWN IN SAINT LUCIE COUNTY ALL AT THE SAME TIME. WE HAD REPORTS COMING ALL OVER THE COUNTY FROM MULTIPLE NEIGHBORHOODS. THIS ONE SEEMS TO BE RIGHT NOW, OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY HAS THE MOST DAMAGE, BUT THERE ARE STILL OTHER AREAS THAT WE ARE HAVING ALL THE SAME RESOURCES AT DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. SO WE JUST ASK PEOPLE, PLEASE STAY IN YOUR HOUSE, STAY BY THE TV, KEEP OFF THE ROADS, DO EVERYTHING BECAUSE OUR RESOURCES ARE RUNNING THIN AND WE\u2019RE HAVING TO BRING IN EVERYBODY AND WE DON\u2019T NEED ANYTHING THAT DOESN\u2019T NEED TO HAPPEN, HAPPEN TO PULL THOSE RESOURCES OFF. THIS SERIOUS INCIDENT RIGHT NOW. SO PLEASE JUST BE PATIENT, STAY HOME AND LET US GET THROUGH THIS STORM. I WANT TO ALSO REMIND EVERYONE, LIKE I SAID, IT\u2019S GETTING DARK. Officials told us that multiple tornadoes touched down in the Spanish Lakes community, and that search and rescue crews are on their way. Deputies and firefighters are going through the rubble in the community.  Before Hurricane Milton made landfall, more than 160 tornado warnings were issued for south Florida on Wednesday, and more than a dozen tornadoes touched down throughout the day.
