The pilot, Ilcehin Pehlivan, lost consciousness during the flight, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/yhyustun\/status\/1843940228634919165\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">the airline said<\/a>, and after unsuccessful attempts to revive him, a decision was made to land at J.F.K. after about eight hours in the air. The plane, Flight 204, was over Baffin Island in northern Canada when it took a sharp right turn and headed for New York. It landed there at 5:57 a.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Pehlivan, 59, died before landing, the airline said, without specifying a cause.
