Center announced that its Gonzales clinic will undergo a $2.5 million renovation and expansion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 6,000 square feet will be added to the existing building on La. 30, including a 2,500-square-foot infusion suite with 14 semi-private infusion bays and one private room, a chemotherapy mixing area, a retail pharmacy and a lab.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The announcement notes that the expansion comes as Ascension Parish continues to experience rapid population growth, resulting in an increased demand for services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the Gonzales clinic, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessreport.com\/article\/news-roundup-congress-readies-final-vote-on-790b-stimulus-bill-cassidy-on-house-gop-panel-mary-bird-perkins-opens-gonzales-cancer-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which opened in 2009<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is currently designed to support around 100 patients a month, the additional space and expansion of services will nearly triple its capacity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gonzales Area Foundation has pledged $500,000 toward the expansion, according to the announcement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investment into expanded offerings comes as the Capital Region cancer care market has become increasingly competitive in the past three years, due in part to the breakup of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ololrmc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/marybird.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Lake\u2019s $100 million investment in its own cancer center, and Mary Bird\u2019s partnership with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brgeneral.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Baton Rouge General<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight:
