{"id":112598,"date":"2024-10-10T17:24:55","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T10:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=112598"},"modified":"2024-10-10T17:24:55","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T10:24:55","slug":"elon-musk-to-unveil-cybercab-at-tesla-robotaxi-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=112598","title":{"rendered":"Elon Musk to unveil &#8216;Cybercab&#8217; at Tesla robotaxi event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Tesla boss Elon Musk is to unveil a prototype of the firm&#8217;s long-awaited robotaxi, the Cybercab, at the Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California on Thursday.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Self-driving cars have long fascinated Mr Musk and he has made a series of bold predictions about them &#8211; including that they will save lives or earn their owners money, through being rented out for rides or even overnight stays.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But when he takes to the stage for Tesla&#8217;s <!-- --><b id=\"&quot;we,-robot&quot;-event\" class=\"sc-7dcfb11b-0 kVRnKf\">&#8220;We, Robot&#8221; event <!-- --><\/b>he will be under pressure to quell doubts about whether the company can deliver on those ambitions.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The project has already undergone delays, having been originally <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/04\/05\/elon-musk-says-hell-unveil-a-tesla-robotaxi-on-august-8\/\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">due<!-- --><\/a> for release in August &#8211; and some analysts also say it is a distraction for a company that should be focussing on releasing a lower cost electric vehicle (EV).<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Meanwhile, robotaxis developed by driverless car rivals such as Waymo, owned by Google&#8217;s parent company Alphabet, are already operating on some US roads.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Mr Musk explained away the latest delay to Tesla&#8217;s robotaxi offering by saying, <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1812883378703925625\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">in a post on X (<!-- --><\/a>formerly Twitter), that it was down to some last minute changes from him.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But analysts say it is now time for the company to show real progress with the project.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;There is certainly heavy build-up after discussing the Robotaxi concept without concrete details for so long,&#8221; said Jessica Caldwell of edmunds.com.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;The expectation is that this event should clear the air on the concept,&#8221; Caldwell added, saying it would be a &#8220;letdown&#8221; if Tesla failed to reveal a developed concept and operational details on Thursday.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Elon Musk has previously been keen to have the media attend his product launches. <!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But, despite multiple enquiries, the BBC did not secure an invitation to Tesla&#8217;s Cybercab unveiling.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">An anchor at Bloomberg TV has also posted publicly on X about wanting to cover the event in person &#8211; even <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EdLudlow\/status\/1838226383593513426\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">tagging<!-- --><\/a> Mr Musk directly &#8211; without success.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">It will be livestreamed on X at 19:00 Pacific Time in the US on Thursday, or approximately 03:00 in the UK on Friday morning.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Relatively little is known so far about the Cybercab.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">According to <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-10-09\/elon-musk-readies-the-robotaxi-he-is-betting-tesla-s-future-on\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<!-- --><\/a>, it will have two seats and butterfly wings. It is thought it will use a combination of cameras and computing power to navigate the roads, as opposed to laser-based sensors, known as Lidar, favoured by rivals.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Musk has <!-- --><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/musk-says-he-requested-extra-time-design-change-robotaxi-2024-07-15\/#:~:text=July%2015%20%28Reuters%29%20-%20Tesla%20%28TSLA.O%29%20CEO%20Elon,would%20hold%20an%20event%20to%20launch%20its%20robotaxi.\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">hinted<!-- --><\/a> that, when complete, some of the robotaxis in Tesla&#8217;s network would be owned and operated by the company, and that Tesla owners would have the option to rent their vehicles out on Tesla&#8217;s network when they are not driving them.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">In a note on Wednesday morning, analysts Wedbush said they expected on-site demos in the prototype at the event.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But industry-watchers will also be looking for projections &#8220;on Cybercab scaling, overall cost per mile,&#8221; and a Tesla ride-share app, Wedbush said.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">&#8220;With very few industry events as widely anticipated as this, we believe Musk will address the near-term pain points,&#8221; Wedbush analysts wrote.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The deployment of robotaxis has encountered setbacks, with driverless cars operated by the firm <!-- --><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-68101907\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">Cruise being suspended in San Francisco<!-- --><\/a> after a pedestrian was knocked down.<!-- --><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But the sector continues to expand.
