Kennedy and a popular and vital force in the Kennedy political dynasty, died on Thursday. She was 96. <\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Her grandson Joseph P. Kennedy III <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/joekennedy\/status\/1844396302886424963\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> the death on the social media site X, giving the cause as complications of a stroke she had last week. He did not say where she died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Her death came a little more than six weeks after her third eldest child, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., ended his long-shot independent presidential campaign <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/08\/23\/us\/elections\/rfk-jr-suspends-campaign-presidential-race.html\" title=\"\">and endorsed<\/a> former President Donald J.
