And the group posted an essay calling the attack a \u201cmoral, military and political victory\u201d and quoting <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/08\/01\/world\/middleeast\/how-hamas-leader-haniyeh-killed-iran-bomb.html\" title=\"\">Ismail Haniyeh<\/a>, the assassinated former political leader of Hamas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThe Palestinian resistance is moving their struggle to a new phase of escalation and it is our duty to meet them there,\u201d the group wrote on Oct. 7 on Telegram. \u201cIt is our duty to fight for our freedom!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The rhetoric poses a challenge to university administrators who must decide how to handle students and student groups that take such positions.
