The company was offering a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Recalls\/2025\/Fisher-Price-Recalls-More-than-2-Million-Snuga-Infant-Swings-Due-to-Suffocation-Hazard-After-5-Deaths-Reported\"><u>$25 refund<\/u><\/a>\u00a0to consumers. The product retailed for about $160 until January of this year. No explanation was provided regarding how the company arrived at this $25 refund.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"ad-backstage-wrap\" class=\"ad-wrap backstage\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>About 2.1 million swings were sold in the United States, with an additional 99,500 units sold in Canada and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Fisher-Price has had to recall one of its products following the death of children.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, the company recalled its once-popular Rock &#8216;n Play sleepers, which has led to some 100 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/01\/10\/1148139282\/fisher-price-rock-n-play-infant-deaths-recall-sleeper-kids2\"><u>infant deaths<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In that instance, <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/sites\/democrats.oversight.house.gov\/files\/Inclined%20Sleeper%20Report.pdf\"><u>an investigation<\/u><\/a> by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform found that Fisher-Price allegedly hadn\u2019t adequately vetted the sleeper for safety before putting it on the market in 2009 and then batted away criticism of the Rock &#8216;n Play for a decade before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2019\/04\/10\/711776554\/safety-commission-may-ask-for-a-recall-of-fisher-price-baby-cot-tied-to-infant-d\"><u>recalling it<\/u><\/a> in 2019 after more than 50 infants had already lost their lives.<\/p>\n<p>The New York-based children&#8217;s company faces similar criticisms for their Snuga Swings recall.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Trumka Jr., a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission commissioner, said the current recall&#8217;s language still puts babies at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, Fisher-Price fails to recall the entire product, instead recalling only a portion of it.
