href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@doctorjesss\/photo\/7384493785905974574?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is sharing the four activities she won\u2019t do<\/a> \u2014 vape, pull an all-nighter, exercise for less than 150 minutes a week and consume too many artificial ingredients and preservatives.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bronchiolitis obliterans, also known as popcorn lung, is a condition that makes breathing difficult because of damage to small airways in the lungs. <span class=\"credit\">Tiktok \/ doctorjesss<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To prove her point, Andrade showed a picture of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/08\/us-news\/new-detectors-installed-in-long-island-middle-school-to-stop-vaping\/\">popcorn lung<\/a> \u2014 the nickname for\u00a0bronchiolitis obliterans, a lung condition that makes breathing difficult because of damage to small airways.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/wellness-and-prevention\/what-does-vaping-do-to-your-lungs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Johns Hopkins Medicine reports<\/a> that the culprit is diacetyl, a chemical that was widely used to give popcorn its buttery flavor. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4892929\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Now it\u2019s added to the liquid<\/a> in some flavored e-cigarettes to evoke a buttery or creamy taste.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>It seems that some teens are already taking Andrade\u2019s advice to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/16\/lifestyle\/vaping-addict-finally-quit-when-lungs-collapsed-black-goo-came-out\/\">quit vaping<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/tobacco-products\/youth-and-tobacco\/results-annual-national-youth-tobacco-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data from September<\/a> shows that 1.63 million US middle and high school students (5.9%) reported using an e-cigarette in the past 30 days compared to 2.13 million (7.7%) in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This is good news since besides bronchiolitis obliterans, vaping can cause <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/02\/lifestyle\/banning-gen-z-tobacco-sales-could-prevent-1-2m-lung-cancer-deaths-study\/\">lung cancer<\/a>, organ damage, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/04\/lifestyle\/61-of-us-adults-will-have-cardiovascular-disease-by-2050-report\/\">heart disease<\/a>, asthma, breathing problems and other conditions.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Not sleeping for 24 hours<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Experts recommend getting seven to nine hours of sleep a night. <span class=\"credit\">Tiktok \/ doctorjesss<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cPulling all-nighters or not sleeping for 24 hours \u2014 the same as being legally drunk,\u201d Andrade wrote in her June post.<\/p>\n<p>Driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or more is considered driving while intoxicated.<\/p>\n<p>Being awake for 17 hours mimics a BAC of 0.05%, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.cdc.gov\/www_cdc_gov\/niosh\/emres\/longhourstraining\/impaired.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.
