(A Falcon 9 did launch Europe&#8217;s Hera asteroid-inspection probe <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-esa-hera-asteroid-mission-launch-success\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-esa-hera-asteroid-mission-launch-success\">on Oct. 7<\/a>, but that was a one-time exception granted by the FAA.)<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"\/>\n<p>&#8220;The FAA notified <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\">SpaceX<\/a> on Oct. 11 that the Falcon 9 vehicle is authorized to return to regular flight operations,&#8221; agency officials said in an emailed statement on Friday afternoon. &#8220;The FAA reviewed and accepted the SpaceX-led investigation findings and corrective actions for the mishap that occurred with the Crew-9 mission (Sept. 28).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Crew-9 incident \u2014 which did not affect mission success but did result in the upper stage falling back to Earth outside its planned disposal area \u2014 was the third Falcon 9 issue in less than three months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18962-spacex-falcon-9.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18962-spacex-falcon-9.html\"><strong>Falcon 9: SpaceX&#8217;s workhorse rocket<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-launch-anomaly-july-2024\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-launch-anomaly-july-2024\">occurred on July 11<\/a>, when an upper-stage propellant leak led to the loss of 20 of SpaceX&#8217;s Starlink internet satellites. The Falcon 9 was grounded for about two weeks as a result. Then, on Aug. 28, a Falcon 9 first stage <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-falcon-9-rocket-23rd-launch-landing-failure\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-falcon-9-rocket-23rd-launch-landing-failure\">failed to land safely<\/a> after a successful Starlink launch.
