The Democrat led 52 percent to 46 percent in the same poll last month.<\/p>\n<p>The latest CBS News\/YouGov poll shows Harris up 51 percent to 48 percent among likely voters, compared with a four-point advantage last month.<\/p>\n<p>Following the latest figures, Harris holds a 1.4 percent point lead in Real Clear Polling\u2019s aggregate of major polls, slipping from 2.2 percent on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The tightening poll numbers come amid concerns among Democrats that Harris is failing to shore up support among Hispanics and African Americans, two of the party\u2019s key constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>While Harris is leading among women of all races, she has struggled to drum up enthusiasm among men, including African Americans and Hispanics, who have increasingly gravitated towards Trump in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>In The New York Times\/Siena College polls released on Saturday and Sunday, Harris attracted the support of 78 percent of Black voters and 56 percent of Hispanic voters \u2013 significantly lower shares than won by the Democratic nominees in the 2020 and 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, former President Barack Obama admonished Black men for not showing as much enthusiasm for Harris\u2019s candidacy as he had received during his campaigns in 2008 and 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses, I\u2019ve got a problem with that,\u201d Obama said at a campaign event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of seven key battleground states expected to decide the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause part of it makes me think \u2013 and I\u2019m speaking to men directly \u2013 part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren\u2019t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you\u2019re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris and Trump on Sunday continued to focus their campaigns on the battleground states, holding events in North Carolina and Arizona, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>At a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina, Harris took aim at Trump for spreading misinformation about the government\u2019s response to recent hurricanes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem with this, beyond the obvious, is it\u2019s making it harder, then, to get people life-saving information if they\u2019re led to believe they cannot trust,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that\u2019s the pain of it all, which is the idea that those who are in need have somehow been convinced that the forces are working against them in a way that they would not seek aid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump, meanwhile, used a rally in Prescott Valley, Arizona to call for the hiring of 10,000 additional Border Patrol agents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I win, I will be asking Congress immediately to approve a 10 percent raise \u2013 they haven\u2019t had one in a long time \u2013 for all agents and a $10,000 each retention and signing bonus,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to retain them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2024\/10\/14\/harris-losing-ground-to-trump-in-us-presidential-race-polls-suggest\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic and Republican nominees locked in dead heat with less than a month until vote, according to new polling.
