Lewellen tells FOX Weather the birth was bitter sweet because the baby&#8217;s grandfather passed away during Hurricane Irma in 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><strong>VENICE, Fla. \u2013 <\/strong>The parents of a new baby boy are celebrating his birth, happening within hours of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/hurricane-milton-power-outages-storm-recovery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hurricane Milton&#8217;s landfall<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a> even as the family continues to mourn his grandfather, who died during another hurricane years ago.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Kenzie Lewellen and Dewey Bennett were anxious about Hurricane Milton&#8217;s arrival and how it would impact their ability to reach the hospital near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/florida\/venice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venice<\/a>, Florida, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/milton-approachesflorida-prepares-largest-evacuation-since-2017s-hurricane-irma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">part of the mandatory evacuation zone<\/a>. Lewellen&#8217;s due date was Oct. 13, just a few days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/local-weather\/milton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milton<\/a> made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, on the Gulf Coast as a Category 3 hurricane.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The expecting parents had an additional reason to be nervous about a major hurricane. Bennett&#8217;s father, Dewey Bennett Jr., died during Hurricane Irma in 2017 when first responders were unable to reach him after he suffered a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The nerves were a little high. Lewellen went into active labor on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/weather-news\/river-flooding-hurricane-milton-hillsborough-county-st-johns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>FLOODED FLORIDA GRAPPLES WITH SLOW-RECEDING RIVERS NEARLY A WEEK AFTER MILTON&#8217;S TORRENTIAL RAIN<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;It was very scary. I woke up at 4:00 in the morning, and I was having contractions.
