{"id":115233,"date":"2024-10-17T16:00:36","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T09:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=115233"},"modified":"2024-10-17T16:00:36","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T09:00:36","slug":"packers-comfortable-with-new-kicker-brandon-mcmanus-who-calls-sexual-assault-lawsuit-resolved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=115233","title":{"rendered":"Packers \u2018comfortable\u2019 with new kicker Brandon McManus, who calls sexual assault lawsuit \u2018resolved\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>GREEN BAY, Wis. \u2014 The <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"42\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/packers\/\">Packers<\/a> feel \u201cvery, very comfortable\u201d with the signing of veteran kicker <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"7fngzAVQjyolNaCj\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/brandon-mcmanus-7fngzAVQjyolNaCj\/\">Brandon McManus<\/a> despite accusations of sexual assault against him, general manager Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/brandon-mcmanus-jaguars-lawsuit-1ef0ec8a47b42b3f0fc76a4e82553274\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/brandon-mcmanus-jaguars-lawsuit-1ef0ec8a47b42b3f0fc76a4e82553274\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">According to the Associated Press<\/a>, Daisy Torres and Nicole Anderson sued McManus for allegedly trying to kiss one of them and grinding against both while the women were working as flight\u00a0attendants on the <a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/jaguars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/jaguars\/\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">Jacksonville Jaguars\u2019<\/a> flight to London in September 2023. Torres and Anderson made their names public after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5522284\/2024\/05\/27\/brandon-mcmanus-sexual-assault-lawsuit-jaguars\/\">initially filing their suit anonymously<\/a> because a judge ruled the case didn\u2019t meet the criteria required for anonymity, according to the AP.<\/p>\n<p>The women were seeking more than $1 million in damages, according to the AP, which also included details from the lawsuit that alleges McManus got drunk before sexually assaulting the two women and passed out $100 bills to encourage them to drink and dance inappropriately.<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/\">NFL<\/a> conducted an investigation and found insufficient evidence that McManus violated the league\u2019s personal conduct policy. The league also said that if new information presents itself, the NFL could consider looking into it.<\/p>\n<p>McManus said Wednesday in the Packers locker room that the civil lawsuit involving him is \u201cresolved.\u201d When asked if it was dropped or settled, McManus again said it was \u201cresolved.\u201d In a statement to <em>The Athletic<\/em>, McManus\u2019 attorney, Brett Gallaway, said, \u201cThe case has been resolved. I look forward to seeing Brandon play for the Packers on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was always upfront and honest about it,\u201d McManus said, adding he couldn\u2019t speak on the investigation. \u201cThat\u2019s how I was able to kind of get through this all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attorney who represented Torres and Anderson, Tony Buzbee, told ESPN in a story published Sept. 30 that he was still working to schedule a meeting between the league and the two women and was confused about why the NFL would conclude its investigation without speaking with the women.<\/p>\n<p>A league source told <em>The Athletic<\/em> on Wednesday that the NFL reached out multiple times to the accusers\u2019 representation to request a meeting with the women but never heard back.<\/p>\n<p>Asked via email Wednesday if the NFL attempted to talk to the accusers as part of its investigation and about the case as a whole, Buzbee replied, \u201cPlaintiffs and the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"45\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/jaguars\/\">Jaguars<\/a> have resolved this matter. Terms are confidential.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miami-based attorney Brandon Chase is listed in online court documents as the attorney for both women now and didn\u2019t respond immediately to a message left for him over the phone Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Online court records in Florida showed that McManus\u2019 attorney will take the deposition of Anderson, one of the flight attendants, on Friday morning in Jacksonville. The same is scheduled with Torres, the other flight attendant, next Tuesday. The court document states that \u201cthe deposition is being taken, for purposes of discovery, and for use at trial or hearing, or for such other purposes as are permitted under the applicable rules and governing law and shall continue from day to day until completed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gutekunst said the Packers went through the investigation details with the league and felt \u201cvery good about their investigation and what they got out of it to make us comfortable at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a really good conversation with Brandon last night,\u201d Gutekunst said. \u201cWhen these things got cleared up within the league and he got past some other things, those conversations kind of just picked up (with agent Drew Rosenhaus). We wanted to make sure that we did our due diligence. Again, we feel really good about that where we sit right now. We\u2019re excited to get him out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the field, the Packers felt the need to make a kicker change after undrafted rookie <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"GpPDoP8zQBDPZw8g\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/brayden-narveson-GpPDoP8zQBDPZw8g\/\">Brayden Narveson<\/a> went 12-of-17 on field goals over the first six games, including a miss from 44 yards during a 2-for-3 day last Sunday against the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"31\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/ari-cardinals\/\">Cardinals<\/a>. All five of Narveson\u2019s misses this season \u2014 he made all 16 of his extra-point attempts \u2014 either drifted wide right or hit off the right upright. Narveson, whom the Packers claimed off waivers from the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"61\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/titans\/\">Titans<\/a> after releasing <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"gWyIjyTC4TMhma5X\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/anders-carlson-gWyIjyTC4TMhma5X\/\">Anders Carlson<\/a> and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"DYrvjxyuyu7AwRMs\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/greg-joseph-DYrvjxyuyu7AwRMs\/\">Greg Joseph<\/a> this summer, ranks 35th in the NFL in field-goal percentage (70.6 percent).<\/p>\n<p>McManus, 33, played for the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"40\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/broncos\/\">Broncos<\/a> from 2014-2022 and the Jaguars in 2023. The <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"62\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/commanders\/\">Washington Commanders<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5535818\/2024\/06\/02\/commanders-release-brandon-mcmanus\/\">released him this offseason<\/a> after the accusations became public. McManus is a career 81.4-percent field-goal kicker. In the last three seasons, he went 26-for-31 (83.9 percent), 28-for-36 (77.8) and 30-for-37 (81.1).<\/p>\n<p>During those three years, he was 29-of-31 on kicks between 40-49 yards and 18-of-32 on kicks from at least 50 yards. Narveson didn\u2019t attempt a field goal of at least 50 yards with the Packers. McManus is 93-of-96 on extra points since the start of the 2021 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, a very experienced kicker,\u201d Gutekunst said of McManus. \u201cHe\u2019s been in very high-pressure situations and kicked a long time in weather, an outdoor stadium. So he\u2019s just has a lot of experience, very talented, very gifted, very strong leg.
