opioid overdose\u00a0than those without a prescription.<\/p>\n<p>People with alcohol use disorder cut their rate of intoxication in half with a GLP-1, the researchers determined.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The findings were published Thursday in the <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/add.16679\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scientific journal Addiction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The study authors noted that past research exploring the effect of GLP-1 drugs on substance abuse has primarily been conducted through animal studies and small-scale clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p>The new study involved 1.3 million participants,
