In 2023, Texas enacted a law banning hormone-replacement therapy and other forms of gender-affirming care for minors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cTexas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects,\u201d Paxton said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/attorney-general-ken-paxton-sues-doctor-illegally-providing-harmful-gender-transition-treatments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement <\/a>Thursday. \u201cDoctors who continue to provide these harmful \u2018gender transition\u2019 drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The statement issued by Paxton&#8217;s office alleged that Lau used &#8220;false diagnoses and billing codes&#8221; in order to mask &#8220;unlawful prescriptions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Neither Lau nor her employer, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, immediately returned requests for comment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"endmark\">Paxton\u2019s suit is the first in the nation by an attorney general against an individual doctor for allegedly violating a restriction on transition-related care for minors. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1660802\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-politics-and-policy\/texas-ag-sues-doctor-allegedly-provided-transgender-care-21-minors-rcna175988\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued a Dallas doctor Thursday for allegedly providing transition-related care to nearly two dozen minors in violation of state law.
