A new report today from reliable analyst Jeff Pu outlines much of what to expect from this new iPhone model. <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-974053\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-iphone-17-slim\">iPhone 17 Slim<\/h2>\n<p>Apple analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/07\/24\/iphone-17-slim-design-camera-specs\/\">Ming-Chi Kuo highlighted<\/a> a number of iPhone 17 Slim specs back in July, emphasizing Apple\u2019s focus on form over function. For instance, the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to have just one rear-facing camera and a 6.6-inch display. <\/p>\n<p>In this week\u2019s investor note seen by <em>9to5Mac<\/em>, Jeff Pu corroborates many of these details. According to the analyst, here are the specs of the iPhone 17 Slim: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chip<\/strong>: A19 <\/li>\n<li><strong>Display<\/strong>: 6.6-inches<\/li>\n<li><strong>RAM<\/strong>: 8GB<\/li>\n<li><strong>Front-camera<\/strong>: 24MP <\/li>\n<li><strong>Rear camera<\/strong>: Single 48MP camera<\/li>\n<li><strong>Biometrics<\/strong>: Face ID<\/li>\n<li><strong>Casing<\/strong>: Aluminum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pu adds that he expects the iPhone 17 Slim to have an all-new design and form factor, and to serve as a \u201creplacement\u201d for the Plus model. It\u2019s unclear if he is referring to a \u201creplacement\u201d in terms of pricing, screen size, or some other factor. <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/05\/17\/ultra-thin-iphone-coming-in-2025\/\"><em>The Information<\/em> reported<\/a> in May that the iPhone 17 Slim \u201ccould be priced higher than the iPhone Pro Max.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-more-iphone-17-details\">More iPhone 17 details<\/h2>\n<p>In terms of performance and specs for the whole lineup, Pu reports:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim: 8GB RAM, A19 chip<\/li>\n<li>iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB RAM, A19 Pro chip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, Pu reports that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will also feature a \u201cnarrowed Dynamic Island,\u201d while the other models will retain the current design.\u00a0The smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be made possible by a new \u201cmetalens\u201d technology for the proximity sensor. The \u201cmetalens\u201d technology may help Apple dramatically reduce the size of the Face ID sensor. <\/p>\n<p>All four iPhone 17 models are again said to feature 24MP front-facing camera, a notable upgrade from the current 12MP cameras. This has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/01\/04\/kuo-24-megapixel-upgraded-front-camera-iphone-17\/\">reported by Ming-Chi Kuo<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The specs reported by Pu this time around are <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/05\/05\/iphone-17-redesign-iphone-17-slim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">largely him doubling down on previous reporting<\/a>. This suggests that Apple\u2019s plans for the iPhone 17 lineup have not changed, at least as of right now. The iPhone 17 lineup, however, won\u2019t actually be announced until September 2025, so there is still plenty of time for things to change based on production and supply chain issues and other factors.<\/p>\n<p>Based on what we know right now, would you be interested in the so-called iPhone 17 Slim if it features a dramatically new design?
