Olguin previously\u00a0pleaded guilty\u00a0to lewd acts on a child, false imprisonment and injuring a child, while his wife, Rosa, and adult daughter, Lennys, pleaded guilty to child cruelty. The women were each sentenced to four years of formal probation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p00093b6judyflngj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cToday\u2019s sentencing marks a significant step in delivering justice to the victims who endured unimaginable abuse,\u201d Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin said in a statement. \u201cThese children were placed in a position of vulnerability after surviving intense trauma, only to be further exploited by someone who was entrusted with their care.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000a3b6jg7qyo3xf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Attorneys for the Olguins said the plea arrangement allowed for the women to be spared prison time.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000b3b6jm179qjv7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cMy client saved his family,\u201d Paul Grech, Marcelino Olguin\u2019s lawyer, said after the hearing. He declined to discuss the case further.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000c3b6j960y9r0v@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Olguin family was tasked with caring for the children after they were rescued from horribly abusive conditions in their parents\u2019 home in the Southern California community of Perris. Their parents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/01\/18\/us\/turpin-family-conditions-inside-house\/index.html\">David and Louise Turpin<\/a>,\u00a0pleaded guilty\u00a0in 2019 to torture and years of abuse that included shackling some of their 13 children and starving them and providing only a minimal education. The Turpin parents were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/04\/19\/us\/turpin-parents-sentencing-friday\/index.html\">sentenced to life in prison<\/a> with the possibility of parole after 25 years.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000d3b6jwsszvabk@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            On Friday, a victim\u2019s advocate read to the court a statement prepared by one of the Turpin children who had stayed in the Olguins\u2019 home.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000e3b6jswt09re8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cAll I wanted was to finally have a loving family and to recover from my trauma, but unfortunately I did not receive that,\u201d the statement said. The victim, who was not named, is still recovering and learning to trust, but forgives the family in an act of faith, the statement said.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000f3b6jnxkfi6n8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/13\/us\/california-turpin-siblings-child-welfare-failure\/index.html\">report<\/a>\u00a0found that the social service system failed the Turpin children, who ranged in age from 2 to 29 when they were rescued by authorities from their parents\u2019 home after their 17-year-old sister escaped and called 911. Eventually six of the children were placed with the Olguins.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000g3b6jektmyode@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Attorneys representing some of the Turpin children filed a civil lawsuit against Riverside County alleging the Olguins abused minors in their care. The couple hit the children in the face with sandals, pulled their hair, forced them to eat their own vomit and made them sit in a circle and recount the trauma they had experienced in their parents\u2019 home, the attorneys wrote in the lawsuit filed in 2022. The suit also accused Marcelino Olguin of sexual abuse.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2fx1x2p000h3b6jpqidd8v7@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Kia Feyzjou, who represented Lennys Olguin, said some of the allegations may have been a \u201clittle exaggerated\u201d but winning a case with so much public scrutiny would have been difficult.
