It also alleges Walters and the state Board of Education don\u2019t have the authority to require the use of instructional materials.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2g7f1gb00083b6mnnjvfp7o@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cAs parents, my husband and I have sole responsibility to decide how and when our children learn about the Bible and religious teachings,\u201d plaintiff Erika Wright, the founder of the Oklahoma Rural Schools Coalition and parent of two school-aged children, said in a statement. \u201cIt is not the role of any politician or public school official to intervene in these personal matters.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2g7f1gb00093b6mcdz9jy19@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The plaintiffs are represented by several civil rights groups, including the Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Oklahoma Appleseed Center for Law &amp; Justice.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2g7f1gb000a3b6my43a5z34@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The suit also notes the initial \u201crequest for proposal\u201d released by the State Department of Education to purchase the Bibles appears to have been carefully tailored to match\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-god-bless-usa-bible-greenwood-2713fda3efdfa297d0f024efb1ca3003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bibles endorsed by former President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0that sell for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/04\/politics\/oklahoma-schools-bible-trump\/index.html\">$59.99 each<\/a>.
