{"id":116172,"date":"2024-10-20T03:09:45","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T20:09:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=116172"},"modified":"2024-10-20T03:09:45","modified_gmt":"2024-10-19T20:09:45","slug":"frozen-waffle-products-are-recalled-over-listeria-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotvideos24.online\/?p=116172","title":{"rendered":"Frozen Waffle Products Are Recalled Over Listeria Risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3711241968723425\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7910942971\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-0\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Nearly 700 frozen waffle products, some of them sold under the brands of major retailers like Kroger, Target and Walmart, were recalled on Friday over concerns of potential contamination with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, according to their manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The manufacturer, TreeHouse Foods, issued a voluntary recall and <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.treehousefoods.com\/news-and-media\/press-release-details\/2024\/TreeHouse-Foods-Announces-Voluntary-Recall-of-Certain-Waffle-Products-Due-to-the-Potential-for-Listeria-monocytogenes-Contamination\/default.aspx\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">said in a statement<\/a> that the \u201cissue was discovered through routine testing at the manufacturing facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">There have been no confirmed reports of illness related to the recalled products, TreeHouse said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">TreeHouse, which operates more than two dozen production facilities in the United States and Canada, said that the recall affected products distributed in both countries and in various formats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Frozen waffle brands <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/s202.q4cdn.com\/734602292\/files\/doc_downloads\/2024\/10\/Brantford-Waffles-Press-Release-Final-Draft-All-Images-Only-JC.pdf\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">affected by the recall<\/a> included several of Kroger\u2019s Simple Truth protein waffles, Target\u2019s Good &amp; Gather Homestyle and Buttermilk flavors, and Walmart\u2019s Great Value Homestyle and Blueberry waffles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Infections from listeria, which are bacteria that can contaminate foods, are rare but can cause potentially serious illnesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Typical symptoms include fever and headaches. Young children, older adults and pregnant women are at the greatest risk for more serious and potentially life-threatening side effects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Each year in the United States, an estimated 1,600 people are infected with listeria, and about 260 people die from those infections, according to the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/listeria\/about\/index.html\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWe see it most severely in people with immune systems that are compromised in some way, and that can be the very young, the very old,\u201d Dr. Stuart C. Ray, a professor of medicine and infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Symptoms \u201ccan be as simple as a gastroenteritis, but it can be as severe as a meningitis,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-2\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">If someone is infected with listeria bacteria, the incubation period can last several days and sometimes several weeks. An infection might not be immediately apparent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Several companies in the deli industry this year have issued recalls related to listeria outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The deli meat brand Boar\u2019s Head <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/08\/30\/health\/listeria-outbreak-boars-head-deli-meat.html\" title=\"\">faced scrutiny<\/a> in recent months after one of its facilities in Virginia was found to contain black mold, dead flies and water dripping over meat. Foods distributed from that facility and containing listeria were linked to nine deaths.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">And BrucePac, another meat provider, this month <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/brucepac-recalls-ready-eat-meat-and-poultry-products-due-possible-listeria\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">recalled more than 10 million pounds<\/a> of meats and poultry products because of listeria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Food plants and facilities are common epicenters of listeria outbreaks because of the bacteria\u2019s ability to survive cold climates, Dr. Ray said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cIt survives on damp surfaces, including in factories and food preparation facilities,\u201d he said. \u201cIt can be shared by animals, including livestock, that don\u2019t appear sick. It can creep into our food chain in ways that might not be obvious.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-3\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">TreeHouse said that customers can check the lot code on their waffle products to see if they are a part of the recall.
