It will deploy them over a 20-minute span, starting 59 minutes after liftoff, if all goes to plan.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"\/>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-oneweb-17-mission-launch\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-oneweb-17-mission-launch\"><strong>SpaceX launches 40 OneWeb internet satellites to orbit, lands rocket<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eutelsat OneWeb&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-iridium-oneweb-launch-may-2023\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-iridium-oneweb-launch-may-2023\">most recent launch with SpaceX<\/a>, on May 20, 2023, brought the company&#8217;s constellation to 634 satellites. At the time, Eutelsat OneWeb said the new batch of 16 satellites would be enough to take their services global.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;OneWeb is on track to deliver global coverage this year and is already in the process of scaling services for customers around the world,&#8221; company officials <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/oneweb.net\/resources\/oneweb-confirms-successful-deployment-16-satellites-including-next-generation-joeysat\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/oneweb.net\/resources\/oneweb-confirms-successful-deployment-16-satellites-including-next-generation-joeysat\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"noopener\">stated at the time<\/a>. (The company was then known as OneWeb; the merger with Eutelsat occurred in September 2023.)<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Qq94AbpfegBjReSaK86zgZ\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Qq94AbpfegBjReSaK86zgZ slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Breaking space news, the latest updates on rocket launches, skywatching events and more!<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;With the addition of the satellites deployed from this launch, OneWeb will increase the resiliency and redundancy in the constellation as it expands services to its growing base of enterprise and government customers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Previous to that effort, SpaceX sent three sets of OneWeb satellites aloft in sets of 40 spacecraft each.<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX&#8217;s agreement to launch Eutelsat OneWeb satellites dates to March 2022, after the latter company pivoted from an agreement to use Russian-built <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40951-soyuz-spacecraft.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40951-soyuz-spacecraft.html\">Soyuz<\/a> rockets through the French company <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/36332-arianespace.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/36332-arianespace.html\">Arianespace<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Russia&#8217;s unsanctioned <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/news\/live\/russia-ukraine-invasion-space-impacts-updates\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/news\/live\/russia-ukraine-invasion-space-impacts-updates\">invasion of Ukraine<\/a>, Russian federal space agency <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/22724-roscosmos.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/22724-roscosmos.html\">Roscosmos<\/a> said it would not launch 36 OneWeb satellites then mounted on a Soyuz rocket unless the company met two conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Those conditions were that the spacecraft would not be used for military purposes, and the United Kingdom would divest itself from the company&#8217;s investors.
